Anna was Bach's second wife, a typical wife and mother, who, in addition to taking care of the family's food and clothing, often copied music for Bach, and the standard was excellent. Out of his gratitude and love for Anna, Bach composed two volumes of compositions for his wife in 1722 and 1725. The two volumes were later combined, and the vocal parts were removed, to become the "Ancient Piano Pieces for Anna Magdalena Bach", which was composed in 1722 and 1725 as a gift to his wife.
