Zhangjiajie City, located between latitude 28°52′-29°48′N and longitude 109°40′-111°20′E, is an emerging province-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province in the northwestern part of the country that is being developed and constructed, characterized by the development of tourism in Zhangjiajie, and bordered by Hubei Province in the north. Zhangjiajie City is located in northwestern Hunan Province, at the combination of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau uplift and the Dongting Lake subsidence zone, between longitude 109°40′-111°20′ and latitude 28°52′-29°48′, and is bordered by Shimen and Taoyuan counties to the east, Yuanling County to the south, and Hefeng and Xuanen counties in Hubei Province to the north.
Expanded InformationThe stratigraphy of Zhangjiajie City is complex and varied, creating the local characteristic landscape. There are mainly mountains, karst, hills, granite and plains, etc. The mountainous area accounts for 76% of the total area, of which the most characteristic is the quartz sandstone peak forest landform, which is rare in the world.
