Lancaster University[1], founded in 1964, is located in Lancashire, North West England, and enjoys a very good academic reputation, consistently ranking among the top universities in the UK. Geography of Lancaster University
Lancaster University is part of the N8 research consortium Lancaster, along with the University of Durham, the University of Leeds, the University of Liverpool, the University of Manchester, the University of Newcastle, the University of Sheffield and the University of York. Lancaster University adopts a collegiate system, which consists of three central faculties and nine small colleges. The central faculties are mainly for research and teaching, while the small colleges are mainly for the living, accommodation and welfare of undergraduates, postgraduates, postdoctoral researchers, and some staff of the University. Lancaster University has three campuses, two of which are located in the historic cities of Lancaster and Carlisle, and the third in the heart of the Lake District.
The University's colleges are based on the Oxbridge system of colleges, so each college has a high degree of independence, and each has its own bar and student activity room.
Lancashire is located in the North West of England, bordering the Irish Sea to the west.
