I am very grateful to the Education Bureau for organizing this forum and giving us such a rare learning opportunity. After listening to the wonderful speeches of the previous principals, I can't help but think of this sentence: listening to your words is better than studying for ten years. The principals' rich management experience has benefited me a lot. I am a young junior who has just made a debut. I would like to take this opportunity to talk about the understanding of the evaluation mechanism of "three good students" and ask my predecessors to criticize and correct me.
Some time ago, Professor Gu Mingyuan, the president of China Education Association and Beijing Normal University, put forward an initiative at the Shanghai Education Forum: abolish the "three-good students" evaluation system that classifies students into three grades before they are mature, and believe that every student can become a useful person, and any student's progress should be encouraged. A stone stirred up a thousand waves, and Professor Gu Mingyuan's initiative immediately caused a big discussion in the education field. At that time, there were many posts on the education forum, with different opinions and opinions. On April 23rd, Shandong TV Station also invited a number of educational experts and scholars to discuss on the spot in the form of live TV broadcast. So, can the selection of "three good students" which has been implemented for more than 5 years still keep pace with the times? Should it be abolished or added to the original selection criteria? I think we should reform the evaluation mechanism of "three good students", affirm and encourage every student, and promote the healthy development of every student.
Since the 195s, the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League have promoted the selection of "three good students" with the standards of "good thinking, good study and good health", accounting for 5% to 1% of the total number of students. After more than 5 years of selection work, this selection system has exposed many disadvantages.
first, the selection of "three good students" has become the patent of a few students, and the selection ratio of 5% to 1% makes most students unattainable. For example, if there are 4 students in a class, only 2 students can be rated as "three good students" if calculated by 5%, and only 4 places will be calculated by 1%. Four more activists, and there are 32 students left. They studied hard for a year without any honor. It used to be said that the college entrance examination was a wooden bridge. Now, don't students who evaluate the three virtues also cross the wooden bridge? I can say for sure that there are many students who have not been awarded an honor for nine years from primary school to junior high school. Don't they have something worthy of recognition and encouragement? The poor proportion makes the evaluation mechanism of "three good students" lose its due incentive function and become the patent of a few people, which invisibly widens the gap between other students and "three good students" and artificially grades students.
Second, pay too much attention to grades and ignore students' personality development. The highest aim and core idea of the new curriculum reform is "everything is for the development of every student", which requires students to achieve all-round development and improve their comprehensive quality and ability. However, in practice, the evaluation of "three good students" pays too much attention to students' academic performance, and some schools even stipulate that students with the top 1 academic performance are eligible for selection, which turns "three good" into "one good", resulting in everyone diving into books and doing problems in the dark, ignoring the development of students' individual abilities such as practical ability, innovation ability and communication ability, and creating a large number of "talents" who can only do problems.
Third, the role of "three-good students" is exaggerated, which makes the evaluation a strong utilitarian color
As we all know, the evaluation of "three-good students" at the provincial level can add 5 points, which is a cake falling from the sky, that is, money. In order to give their children a chance to be rated as "three good students", many parents try their best to give gifts to schools and teachers to pull relationships, and you rob me. At this critical moment, "three good" has been honored as a "privilege" in the examination room, which makes the honorary title of "three good students" covered with a strong utilitarian color.
at this point, some people may ask, so the evaluation of three good students is not good at all? I said yes, and it has two advantages. The evaluation of the first and third best students benefited a few people, and they were added to the college entrance examination.
The appraisal of the second and third best students has prospered an industry. What industry? Optical industry. I think we all know that students' eyes are getting worse year by year, and the shops with glasses are getting more and more year by year, but the business is booming year by year. Perhaps everyone can't imagine that the evaluation of "three good students" can promote the prosperity of the optical industry, making the optical industry one of the most developed industries in China, and the number of glasses produced in China is far ahead in the world.
The evaluation of "three good students" can actually promote the prosperity of the optical industry, which is the sorrow of education! It can be seen that "three good students", a product of the 195s, can no longer meet the needs of the times. Now we are vigorously promoting the new curriculum reform to reduce the students' excessive burden. I think we should establish a scientific evaluation system of "three good students" and combine the concept of "taking students as the foundation" to turn the traditional "three good students" standard of "good thinking, good study and good health" into the new "three good students" standard of "good citizens, good students and good children".
Last year, our Nanxi Primary School tried to make bold reforms. In the school, we carried out evaluations such as "Top Ten Young Pioneers on Campus", "Reading Star", "Art Star", "Communication Star", "Story Star", "Sports Star", "Mathematics Star" and "Civilization Star". In the class, we carried out "All-round Development of Young Pioneers" and "Excellent Young Pioneers"
At the same time, reform the original individual appraisal and pay attention to the development of students' personality. The original individual activists have been questioned by many parents. For example, students who have their children rated as "labor activists" are not happy, and parents are not happy. Some parents even come to the school to ask questions. My children are sent to the school specifically for labor? Let's be speechless and blame his children for being advanced. Why bother? Last semester, we renamed "labor activists" as "campus beauticians", explaining that your creation made the campus more beautiful. We changed "recreational activists" into "small singers on campus" and "sports activists" into "small athletes", and established the "Wild Goose Award" to commend students who love the group, and the "Dark Horse Award" to commend students who have made the fastest progress in their studies, retaining the title of "civilized students and outstanding student cadres" and adding "small calligraphers, writers, painters, inventors and mathematicians" Imagine, why should we be so stingy as teachers? After the implementation of this reform, students took the initiative to participate in the declaration and selection, and their personality development had a clear goal, so that every child could see their own strengths and give play to their own strengths, which achieved unexpected results. For example, Pan Wenjun, a fifth-grade student, is naturally introverted and taciturn. Since he applied for the "Story Star" evaluation, he has read a lot of books and been able to tell stories alone, and finally won the "Story Star" award, even his introverted personality has been overcome.
In order to be rated as a "campus beautician", the school originally asked everyone to plant a pot of flowers, and some students planted five or even eight pots by themselves. The appraisal of "Campus Beautician" has stimulated students' enthusiasm for planting flowers. From one potted flower to three potted flowers, it has effectively promoted the greening construction of the school. This year, with the active participation of students, our school built 1 flower beds, three rockeries and two gravel roads, and planted a large number of boxwood, Du Ying, cedar and cypress, which gradually formed a monotonous campus with towering cedar, rockeries and flowerpots.
after half a year of reform, we are pleasantly surprised to find that students pay more attention to their own personality development. Students have a stronger sense of honor and a stronger competitive atmosphere. Imagine a bright future, can we boldly predict that "art stars" may be future singers and painters. The star of communication may be the future diplomat, the star of sports, or the future Liu Xiang and Yao Ming.
