"Embroidering the Red Flag" is an opera "Sister Jiang" adapted from the novel "Red Rock" published by Luo Guangbin and Yang Yiyan in 1961. The first draft of the script was written in just eighteen days.
When the first draft of the script was placed on the desk of Air Force Commander Liu Yalou, General Liu Yalou was sensitively aware that this work was likely to bring a classic to the opera stage of New China.
Immediately, "Sister Jiang" was listed as a key repertoire of the Kongzheng Opera Troupe. The task of composing the music was assigned to Jin Sha, Yang Ming and Jiang Chunyang.
After accepting the task, in order to find inspiration, the composition team went deep into Jiang Jie’s hometown to collect styles, learn from and explore the rich and colorful Sichuan local opera forms. A year later, they came up with the first draft of the music. The result was unexpected - this creation was completely overturned by the chief, not a word was left!
Jin Sha and his collaborators finally succeeded in finding the musical soul that shaped Sister Jiang. The songs "Ode to Red Plum Blossoms" and "Embroidering the Red Flag" in "Sister Jiang" are also widely sung by everyone.

Lyrics
The thread is long and the needle is dense
Embroidering the red flag with tears in my eyes
The tears follow the needle and thread
It’s more of joy than sadness
How many years and generations
I finally look forward to you today
A thousand feelings Extreme love
Turn into a golden star and embroider the red flag, embroider the red flag
On weekdays, the knife bushes do not blink
My heartbeat is extremely fast today
Stitch by stitch and thread by thread
Embroidery creates a new world
