Creation background
At the end of August, 1986, Wang Jian received an invitation letter from Shanghai TV Station, asking her to write the lyrics of a theme song for the first Shanghai International TV Art Festival. The letter gives the "eight-character policy, friendship, communication, cooperation and development" and stipulates that the lyrics should not exceed six lines.
Subsequently, Shanghai TV station printed the lyrics of several music festival theme songs created by Wang Jian in mimeographed form and sent them to Gu Jianfen, asking her to choose the best lyrics to compose music. After careful selection, Gu Jianfen chose Wang Jian as the lyricist and finished the composition.
