When does the Hangzhou Asian Games start

The 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou starts on September 23, 2023.

The 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou (The 19th Asian Games), also known as the "2022 Hangzhou Asian Games", is the third time that China has hosted Asia's highest-profile international comprehensive sports event, following the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. On July 19, 2022, the Olympic Council of Asia announced that the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou 2022, originally scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25, 2022, would be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023, with the name of the event and the logo remaining unchanged.

The Hangzhou Asian Games competition program is set as follows: 40 major sports, 61 sub-items, 481 small items. 40 competition items include 31 Olympic sports and 9 non-Olympic sports, at the same time, under the premise of keeping the 40 major sports unchanged, the addition of e-sports, breakdancing two competition items. Hangzhou Asian Games will give birth to 481 gold medals.

2023 Hangzhou Asian Games bidding process

On September 16, 2015, the 34th OCA Congress was held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. The first topic of the meeting was to hear the presentation of the Hangzhou bid delegation. The core members of the Hangzhou Bid Delegation, Liu Peng, President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Director General of the General Administration of Sport of China, Zhang Hongming, Mayor of Hangzhou, Luo Xuejuan, Ambassador of the Asian Games Bid, Jin Jianhang, President of the Alibaba Group, and Chen Yongxin, Bilingual Anchor of Hangzhou TV, made their presentations in English.

After the presentation, the delegation showed a promotional video for Hangzhou's Asian Games bid. Finally, Zheng Jiwei, vice governor of Zhejiang province, made a concluding statement on behalf of the Zhejiang provincial government, in which he made a solemn promise that the Zhejiang provincial government would support Hangzhou in hosting the 19th Asian Games in 2022 with all the strength of the province.

At 13:03 Beijing time on September 16, 2015, at the 34th Delegates Assembly in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, after a vote by the OCA Delegates Assembly, Prince Ahmad, President of the OCA, solemnly declared, "Hangzhou, China, has been awarded the right to host the 2022 Asian Games." As the bidding city, Hangzhou becomes the third city in China to host the Asian Games after Beijing and Guangzhou.
