First, the brewing ratio
The brewing ratio of coffee is not clearly defined, and it is generally between 10: 1 to 18: 1, with an average of about 15.5: 1, that is, every 15.5g of water is mixed. Of course, different proportions of coffee taste different, which can be adjusted according to your own taste.
Second, coffee powder grinding
Grind coffee beans into powder in a pressure cooker.
Third, pour in coffee powder and water.
Boil the water before grinding the coffee powder. Let the water boil and stand for 30 seconds, then pour the water and coffee powder into the pressure cooker. When the water temperature has just dropped to about 200℉, that is, 93℃, it is best to start pouring water. If coffee powder is found floating on the water, it is necessary to slow down the dumping speed and let the coffee powder fully contact with the water.
Fourth, stir.
The purpose of stirring is to make coffee powder fully contact with water and reduce the floating of coffee powder, which is still very important. When stirring, usually use chopsticks and spoons to gently stir the coffee on the top of the pot, so that the floating coffee powder can be fully infiltrated. After stirring, cover the lid and keep warm. Be careful not to press down in a hurry, soak for 3~5 minutes first, and then start the filter press!
5. Lower the filter press lever
Press down slowly and at a constant speed, and you will feel a certain resistance, which is generally not too great. If the resistance is too small, it means that the coffee powder is too thick and needs to be ground slightly; If it is too big, it means that the coffee powder needs to be coarsely ground. This can be adjusted slowly. In addition, the coffee extracted by the autoclave will leave some residue. When drinking coffee, don't drink it all at once, and don't leave coffee grounds left by the press pot to continue soaking.
Common problems and solutions in making coffee by pressing pot;
1, coffee is too weak
Coffee may be a little rough, but it can be ground a little next time, and the soaking time should be guaranteed to be 3~4 minutes.
2. Coffee is too bitter
Coffee powder may be ground too fine, try to grind it coarsely. If deep roasted coffee is used, make sure the coffee is fresh enough and the water temperature is reduced to 195℉.
3. The coffee is too strong
Try to shorten the soaking time. Don't leave the finished coffee in the pot, but pour it into the thermos for preservation. In addition, if you usually drink drip coffee, you should pay attention to the concentration of normal coffee, which is higher than drip coffee.
4. Too much residue
This may be a problem with the filter. If the model of the filter element does not match the caliber of the pot, the dregs will naturally enter the coffee. In addition, filter paper can also be used for secondary filtration.
