A Meter of Sunshine

Since ancient times, mankind has never stopped chasing and worshiping the sun, and in ancient times, many peoples even worshiped the sun as the god that dominates everything in the world. The first day of the year 200, the God of the sun but the lucky ball thrown to the Wenling Shitang, so that the fishing town in the southeast corner of China, along with the first ray of sunshine of the new millennium and the reputation of the great.

This day, Shitang smiled

Sunshine everywhere, but Shitang this meter of sunshine is different.

At 6:46 on January 1, 2000, the eyes of all of China were watching Shitang--when the gorgeous sunset on the East China Sea faded away, when 100 hard-working and simple fishermen blew a loud and clear horn with 100 conchs, a holy golden sunshine crossed the Millennium Dawn Monument, sprinkled all over Shitang, and thus illuminated the land of God. This was not only the first ray of sunshine in Shitang, but also the first century sunshine in mainland China. In order to commemorate this event, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Observatory put the sub September 28, 1998 found the international permanent number for the "14147" number of an asteroid, named "Wenling Aurora", become the first county-level city name named The asteroid.

I'm afraid that even the people of Shitang themselves could not have predicted that their ancestors survive this piece of land, with the magic of the sunshine and the world, this day, Shitang gongs and drums from morning to night, more than a thousand red lanterns lit up, a tidal wave of people from all directions. The local fishermen, in the most pure and simple way to celebrate this special day, carrying the table pavilion, a hundred fishing lanterns, dancing dragon team ...... fishermen put the usual only in the New Year festivals only when the folklore show, all lit up, dedicated to the guests from all over the country.

This day, Shitang smiled, she accompanied the first ray of sunshine of the new century, stepped into a brand new era. The dawn of the new millennium not only brought 120 million yuan of tourism revenue to Wenling City, making Shitang famous, but also formed the unique sunshine culture of today's Wenling.

Longitude 121 degrees 36' east, latitude 28 degrees 15' north

In fact, just from the map, Shitang is not eye-catching. It's just a peninsula stretching out from mainland China into the East China Sea, and locals call it "the end of the world for Eurasia". On a map, it's an uplift called Ruo Mountain, which forms a wedge into the East China Sea.

This is a day and night by the sea winds blowing the East China Sea fishing port, all year round with the salty smell of the ocean, the people here, living by the sea, the sea for life. It is like a peach hidden in the world, away from the outside world of right and wrong struggle, the 1980s, Shitang ushered in his glorious period. During this period, some painters who came to Shitang discovered this piece of land. Wind painters found this piece of feng shui land, so a batch of artists came one after another, making this quiet fishing village stirred up, and let it have the "Oriental Notre Dame" reputation. But after the 1990s, with the modernization of Shitang, the number of artists who went there began to decrease, and Shitang gradually fell into silence.

However, the special geographic location of Shitang has made it fortunate to have a location that is not found elsewhere. 121 degrees 36' east longitude and 28 degrees 15' north latitude, the special latitude and longitude points, make Shitang the place where the first sunlight of the new millennium shines in mainland China. This is China's scientific research team, the use of several independent methods of measurement, hundreds of places in China to the south of Hainan Island, north of Heilongjiang for testing, and finally came up with the results. This measurement has been confirmed by the international astronomical authorities Greenwich Observatory in Britain and the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Longitude 12l degrees 36' east, latitude 28 degrees 15' north, Shitang is destined to not be forgotten.

Aurora Garden, Witness the First Ray of Sunshine

Aurora Garden is located at the top of Ganzhang Cliff on Leigong Mountain in Shitang, which was specially built by the local government to welcome the first ray of sunshine of the new millennium, and it is also the best location in Shitang to watch the dawn and sunrise.

Standing at the top of the cliff and looking around, the sea and sky are colorful and fishing sails are dotted in the distance, while the stone houses in the near distance are backed by the mountain and facing the sea in a staggered manner. In the center of the Aurora Garden, the Millennium Aurora Monument stands against the wind, which is 20 meters high and made of local granite monument. The monument consists of two opposing sail-shaped monuments, symbolizing the opening of the door to the new millennium to welcome the first ray of sunshine, but also means that the sails are set, and from a distance, it looks like a hand that joins hands and prays for "fish every year". Connected between the monuments is a stainless steel woven "fishing net". When the first rays of sunlight penetrate the clouds, it passes through the fishing net and reflects a bit of dazzling light. On the sea-facing side of the monument are the words "Millennium Dawn" inscribed by Zhou Guangzhao, then vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

At about one to two hundred meters northward from the Dawning Monument is a building with a silver-white ball on top. The ball is a silver-white ball on the top. This is the Shitang Planetarium. This is the Shitang Planetarium, the first county and city-level planetarium in China. Planetarium *** investment of 4.5 million yuan, a floor area of about 1,800 square meters, the main body by the Astronomical Hall, Astronomical Hall and Astronomical Exhibition Hall, Astronomical Theatre, composed of four parts.

Walking into the planetarium door, you can see a sundial model. In the middle of the hall is a replica of Zhang Heng geodesic, another celestial instrument model and photoelectric astrometer. The west side of the showroom display is related to astronomical artifacts replica, such as the Western Han Dynasty, a thousand Zhang copper funnel replica. According to information, a thousand Zhang copper leak is 1976 in Inner Mongolia Ikezhaomeng Hangjin Banner sand dunes found by chance, is now collected in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Museum. The funnel pot of the pot on the bottom of the casting of the yang "thousand chapter" two words, the pot body front negative engraving "dry chapter copper funnel" 4 words. This is the ancient Chinese timekeeping tools in the fine.

In addition, there is the Neolithic era Yangshao culture sites unearthed sun pattern pottery pot replica, the Han tomb unearthed bamboo calendar replica, the Shang dynasty astronomical oracle bone replica, in 1965, Jiangsu Yizheng Han Tomb out of the work of the pocket-sized copper kuwai watch replica, etc., which is enough to arouse the interest of the astronomical, to understand the ancient Chinese astronomical technology of the brilliant achievements.

Shitang Planetarium has several programs that visitors can participate in, such as the solar system planet simulation weighing system that can simulate weighing in and out of each planet. In addition, there are pictures or miniature models of the Jane Yee, Dengfeng Star Observatory and Beijing Ancient Observatory laid out in the exhibition halls on the second and third floors to provide a visual understanding of astronomy. On the fourth floor is a fully automatic professional astronomical telescope imported from the United States with GLS global satellite automatic positioning system. According to reports, this astronomical telescope can carry out fully automatic positioning and tracking observation of more than 140,000 celestial bodies, and at night, it can accurately observe the craters on the moon, Saturn's halo, as well as planets, stars, nebulae and other celestial bodies.

Leigong Mountain, where Aurora Park is located, was also a military stronghold during World War II. The Allies set up a post here to guard against Japanese invaders back then, and it was not removed until after the end of World War II. In the 1950s and 1960s, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) set up a "navigation station" here, and a women's militia post was set up on the mountain, equipped with radar, high-powered binoculars and other equipment, and the inspectors consisted of fishermen's girls of all colors. Today, these military facilities have shed their mysterious veil and are open to visitors.

Yuanlongao, a small fishing village kissed by the sun

Yuanlongao village is located in the mountain plain behind the side of Aurora Park, and it's just a few minutes' walk away. The special location allows this small fishing village to see the sun earlier than other villages.

From the top of the hill, Yuanlongao Village is built on the mountain, with polished stone paths winding through the village, linking up small stone houses. The front and back of the houses are filled with rape flowers, a sea of eye-popping yellow blossoms blossoming wildly in the sunlight, swaying from side to side against the sea breeze. Today, there are only a dozen or so families in Yuanlongao Village, and most of them have moved to the town below the mountain for the convenience of life. Most of the people have moved to the town below the mountain for the convenience of life. Those who stick to the village are mostly old people or children. It is said that the village people have a **** the same ancestor - Zhang Yuanlong, back then, he migrated here from Fujian, and found that this place is rich in fish and shrimp, and the climate is pleasant, so they settled down in the mountain plain. And in accordance with local custom, the back of the mountains facing the sea, local materials, built a stone house, and then after several generations of prosperity, slowly the village has today's size. In honor of their ancestors, the locals named the village Yuanlongao.

I don't know if this claim is verified, but in the eyes of local villagers, it is the name of the village that has brought them good luck. "The year 2000 was the first year of the new millennium, which also happened to be the year of the dragon, and on the first day of the first month of that year, the first ray of sunshine in mainland China was welcomed in the area, and both Yuan and the dragon, were fulfilled here." Smiles filled the faces of local villagers as they told us about this beautiful coincidence. It was clear that after experiencing the dawn of the century, they had a whole new appreciation for the place where they had lived for centuries.

Walking through the village, one can look up and see the vastness of the sea, with the sound of waves carrying the salty sea breeze blowing in their direction. Occasionally, you can see old people in twos and threes relaxing and chatting together, and there are also those who don't like to join in the fun, squinting, sitting in front of their houses and basking in the sun. For us strangers, they seem to have seen the strange, and sometimes will be impatiently muttered a sentence or two: "are an old bone, what to shoot Oh." In the late afternoon of a spring day, the warm sunshine pours over this quiet fishing village. For us, it's a beautiful day, but for them, it's probably the most ordinary day.

Sailing in the direction of the sunrise

From time immemorial, our ancestors devoutly believed that "the sky is a god, and the sun is honored", and that the sun is "the king of all gods", and that the sun is worshipped with the highest specifications. Shitang people have a special feeling for the sun.

Chen Xianglai and Chen Xiangyong are photography enthusiasts in Shitang, they especially like to shoot the sun. They told us that the Shitang people's reverence for the sun has been a tradition since ancient times, and not just because of the "first ray of sunshine". For fishermen who depend on the sea for their livelihood, the weather can determine his day's harvest, a year's harvest or even the fate of his life, and if a typhoon occurs, the fishing boat will be broken, not to mention that sometimes there is a danger to life. So in the old days, the first thing a fisherman would do when he got up was to look up at the sky, and if the sun was rising, it meant that today might be another good day to go out to sea.

In this way, day after day, year after year, the fishing port of Shitang slowly awakens to the morning sun, then gradually becomes noisy, then returns to silence, then noisy again. The fishermen rushed out into the wind when the sun came up, and lowered their sails to return to the sea before sunset. In that era when technology was not very developed, the fishermen drifting in the vast sea could only rely on the orientation of the sun and stars to distinguish the direction of the sea and the hour of the day. The sun was their closest companion at sea.

The sun in Chen Xianglai and Chen Xiangyong's photographs is ever-changing. Sometimes it seems like a fireball, hanging at the end of the sea; sometimes it seems like a golden disk, sprinkling a little broken gold toward the sea; sometimes it seems like a shy girl, hiding in the thick clouds, only lighting the clouds in the sky.

Today's Aurora Park, the best place to shoot dawn and sunrise, has become a must-go place for local couples to shoot their wedding dresses. Chen Xiangyong can't remember exactly how many couples he has taken up there to photograph the sunrise. This ray of dawn opens up a brand new day for Shitang people, so lovers are willing to frame it on the first page of their new life.
