The origin of Binyang Cannon Dragon Festival

The following is the origin of the Binyang Cannon Dragon Festival:

The Binyang Cannon Dragon Festival is a unique traditional festival in Binyang County, Guangxi. It is a comprehensive folk festival born from the fusion of Han and Zhuang cultures. It has a distinct and rich national color. It is held every year on the eleventh day of the first lunar month. Binyang Paolong Festival has a long history and has different origins, but the most festive saying originated from the battle between Di Qing and Nong Zhigao at Kunlun Pass in the Song Dynasty. In the fifth year of Emperor You of the Song Dynasty (AD 1053), the famous general Di Qing was trying to paralyze Nong Zhigao, the leader of the Zhuang nationality who was rebelling at the pass. On the eve of the Lantern Festival, Di Qing ordered a three-day banquet, asked the soldiers to dance with dragons, and called on every household to set off firecrackers to celebrate the carnival. That night, Di Qing led his elite troops to raid Kunlun Pass and captured Kunlun Pass at three drums. From then on, Pennsylvania residents believed that the dragon dance was auspicious. At this time of year, they dance to celebrate the festival. The carnival continues to this day. Binyang Paolong Festival includes activities such as colorful display, Lantern Festival, Paolong Dance and other activities. The dragon dance is ordered by the commander-in-chief (also known as the leader). The dragon dancers go shirtless and wear Qing Dynasty officer and soldier hats (all made of bamboo and black). The Paolong Festival will open the way with dragon tablets, gongs and drums and civil and military fields. Binyang Paolong will open the way in advance, and lighting and dragon protection will be prepared in advance to line the roads for each household. Each household will follow the dragon and throw it into the Paolong. There is a saying that the sound of cannons does not stop and the dragon dances continuously, so it is called Paolong. 2 Paolong is scheduled to open at the temple or country at 7 o'clock that night. The head will bite open the rooster's comb, light the dragon's eyes with the blood of the rooster's comb, thousands of cannons will roar, and the dragon will leap into the air. In recent years, special brands such as Bailong Dance Penn State have attracted many domestic and foreign tourists and are known as the Oriental Carnival. 1On June 7, 2008, Binyang Paolong Festival was approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list
