What happened to the attitude of two homeless people towards Pippi?

Their attitudes ranged from "trying to steal Pippi's gold coins" to "thanking Pippi for his hospitality".

In the story of Pippi's reception of thieves in Pippi's stockings, two tramps passed Pippi's house and happened to see Pippi sitting on the ground counting gold coins. So the tramps wanted to find a chance to go in and steal gold coins. In the evening, when they entered the house, they wanted to take away the suitcase full of gold coins. I didn't expect Pippi to be particularly strong. She held up the thieves in one hand, refused to let go, and tied them all up.

However, the magical Pippi promised the thieves to untie the rope as long as they could dance with her. So, one thief played music, and another thief danced with Pippi, and both of them were exhausted. Finally, Pippi took out bread, cheese, butter, ham, cold meat and milk and gave each of them a gold coin as a reward. The two tramps were grateful for Pippi's warm hospitality and left in shame.
