Beichengzi site is an ancient site in the Warring States and Han Dynasties. Located in Beichengzi Village, Beidiantou Township, Tang County. It is located in the hilly area 13 in the northwest of Tang County at the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, with an altitude of 188 meters. There are hills in the north and south, gullies in the east and flat land in the west. There is a small river that originates in the south and flows back to the Tanghe River in the west.
Beichengzi was originally a square city, with a length of 1.200m from north to south, 1.000m from east to west and a total area of1.2m. The only residual wall in the northeast corner of the site is about 480m long, 8.5m wide and 7m high. The rammed soil layer is distinct, each layer is 8- 10 cm, and gray pottery pieces are found in the barren soil layer of the city wall, which provides good data for the study of urban construction in the Warring States and Han Dynasties. In the general survey of the site, we also found residual bean bowls, grey pottery fragments with rope patterns and so on.
Through many investigations, according to the clues provided by the villagers in this village, it is said that this city is called Murong City, where Emperor Yan was built. "Ming Hongzhi Baoding County Records" records: "Zhongshan City is 130 miles west of the county seat, which is an ancient and dangerous place in Tang County. In the 10th year of Taiyuan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (385), Mu Rongchui moved its capital to Zhongshan, and Zhongshan City was built by Mu Rongchui. Emperor Taizong levied Liao to drink here, and Song said,' Six enemies! According to the Records of Tang County, which was rebuilt in Guangxu of Qing Dynasty for three years, "On the mountain thirteen miles north of Tang County, there is a city named Zhongshan City". According to legend, it is the site of the Tang Dynasty of Emperor Yao, and the Queen of the Sixteen Countries, Mu Rongchui, was established here. " According to legend, because the North and South Chengzi are located on the south and north sides of Zhongshan City, they got this name and are still in use today. In a word, this city belongs to the ruins of Hanzhong Mountain City. The discovery and preservation of this site is of great value to the study of the history of China, and provides material data for the historical development of Tangxian County.
