Zhenyuan has been established since the Spring and Autumn Period, and belonged to Qianzhong County in Qin. In the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Ling County, and the land of Wuyang County was subordinate to Jingzhou.
The Tang Dynasty, set up Zijiang County, belongs to the prize state Longxi County, Wu Hou Chang'an four years (704), cut the Yuanzhou night, Weixi two counties to set up Yuanzhou, the thirteenth year of the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty (725), renamed Crane State.
