Road to becoming a singer:
Graduated from King's Beauty Middle School in Taiwan Province, then enrolled in Fu Jen Catholic University's Department of Foreign Languages. In April 1997, Jolin Tsai participated in MTV's "Freshman Battle" singing contest, beating out more than 3,000 contestants before winning the title with her rendition of Whitney Houston's hit song "The Greatest Love of All". The following year, Jolin officially signed a contract with Universal Music and released her first solo album "JOLIN1019".
