Russia’s iconic building—Red Square.

Red Square (Russian красная площадь English Red Square) is located in the center of Moscow, the capital of Russia, facing the Moskva River. It is the oldest square in Moscow and a witness to major historical events. It is also the place where mass gatherings, large-scale celebrations and military parades are held on important Russian festivals. It is a world-famous tourist attraction.

To the north of Red Square is the State Museum of Russian History, to the east is the Moscow State Department Store, and to the south is the Church of the Assumption of Vasily. On the west side are Lenin's Mausoleum and the red walls and three towers of the Kremlin. A podium is built on the upper floor of Lenin's Tomb. Whenever there is an important ceremony in Russia, leaders stand on Lenin's tomb to watch the military parade.
