What's the point of the movie "The Return of the Old Man" when there's always an old man who says he's been "hit secondarily by an electric shock"?

The director is trying to tell you over and over again how lucky you are to be alive.

Some people are born to sit leisurely by the river; some are struck by lightning; some are musically gifted; some are artists; some are good swimmers; some can make buttons; some know Shakespeare well; some are good mothers; some are natural dancers......

We all live in our own orbit, either successful or disillusioned, but in the end we all go to the same place, just on different paths. That's what it means.
