Timeline of Mao Difang's Works

1960: Went deep into the Ximeng and Lancang Wa areas of Yunnan many times to write "Introduction to A Wa Dance" and published it in the first issue of the Dance Magazine in 1980 (which became a model for dance practitioners to learn A Wa dance)

Dance works:

1951: Created the famous mass square dance "Youth Friendship Circle Dance", the main mass group dance "Joyful Festival", "Wild Journey", "Pea Flowers", etc. Joyful Festival", "Wild Journey", "Pea Flowers" and so on.

1959: Dai Dance "Catch the Pendulum" (group dance) Leader: knife Meilan, this work absorbed into the large-scale song and dance epic "East is Red" adapted as a solo dance. (This work was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the National Day.) 1962: Wa Dance "Pounding Rice" (group dance); Hauni Dance "Tea Picking Dance" (group dance); among them: "Catching the Pendulum," "Pounding Rice" and "Tea Picking Dance" were included in the movie "Colorful Butterfly Fluttering". Lisu Dance "Dustpan Dance" (group dance).

1963: China's first color widescreen stereo music and dance film "Asima"; as dance director and (film director Liu Qiong cooperation). Starring: Yang Likun. In 1982, the Spanish International Film Festival, won the "Best Dance Film Award" to become China's first and so far the only one in the international film festivals to win this award.

1964: Mao Difang Dance "Riptide", Hauni Dance "Tea Picking".

1966: A Wa dance "A Wa People Singing New Song" (group dance); Dai dance "Straw Shoes Song" (group dance); Dai dance "Song of the Tubular Skirt" (group dance).

1967: Dai Dance "A River of Water" (solo: performed by Knife Meilan).

1988: large-scale dance drama "Zhaoshutun and 婻mu Nona" (also known as the "Peacock Princess" original lead female lead: Yang Liping) as the artistic director of the dance drama and personally participated in the choreography, and also served as a basic dance training instructor. Han Shaanxi dance "Embroidered Gold Plaque" (group dance); Salar dance "Milk Tea Dedicated to Chairman Hua" (group dance); military theme dance "Ice Peak Snow Lotus" (group dance).

Maodifang dance "Auspicious Heavenly Maiden" Han-Shaanxi dance "Embroidered Gold Plaque" and Salar dance "Milk Tea for President Hua" and "Ice Peak and Snow Lotus" works won the "Fourth All-Army Literary and Artistic Performance" Award for Outstanding Dance Works (included in the movie "Horns of Victory")

Military theme "Never Get Laid Off" and the military, Tibetan theme "Dawn of the Snowy Mountains" were named the national solo and duo dancers, Trio Dance Festival Outstanding Program Award. (Performers) Zuo Qing and Han Ru.  The military theme "When Mountain Flowers are Romantic" won the Lanzhou Military Region Creative Award

1980 works: Jingpo dance "Jingpo Dance of Knives" (group dance) (won the Fifth Army Award for Outstanding Dance Works in the Cultural and Artistic Festival in 1985). In 1985, it was awarded the prize of excellent dance work in the Cultural and Art Performance of the whole army, and in 1999, it was awarded the gold medal in the National Ethnic Minority Sports Dance Competition).

1980 works: Chinese classical dance "Rose in the Heart" duo 1983 works: military theme "Riptide".

Maodifang Dance "Never Lay Off" Leader: Zhao Ming, Zhang Weidong, this work won the Fifth All-Army Literary and Artistic Festival Outstanding Work Award .

1983 works: military theme group dance "Luanshui love" for the Luan Luan into Beijing project special creation of works, won the Beijing military region commendation, anti-Japanese war theme women's group dance: "eight women throw themselves into the river". 1984: Chinese classical dance, duo dance "Ode to the Orange" Performer: Zhao Xiaojin and so on. Yi Dance, Duo Dance "Wine Song" Performers: Group A: Zhao Yongbin, Yang Qing, Group B: Zhao Xiang , Zhang Ming (Central Nationalities Song and Dance Troupe) (using the rare Yi cigarette box dance as the main vocabulary of the dance).

1984: Choreographer for the CCTV drama Journey to the West; collaborated with the famous TV director: Yang Jie. Performers: Beijing Dance Academy, Coal Mine Literary Troupe, Beijing Military Region Comrades Singing and Dancing Troupe, etc.......

1985: Dai Dance "Pan Drum Lanterns" (aka: "Auspicious Light") Performers: Group A: Zhu Mei Group B: Ma Antelope Group C: Yang Liping This work was awarded the First National College Students' Arts

This work won the First National University Art Festival: 'Excellent Work Award', 'First Prize for Performance', National Minority Folk Dance Festival Outstanding

Composition and Performance Award (This work uses the ritual of holding a candle in the hand as the main vocabulary of dance.)

1987: Chief Dance Designer for the Central Academy of Drama's play 'The Mulberry Ping Chronicle' (with the famous theater director Xu Xuzhong)

1987: Chinese Classical Group Dance 'Auspicious Heavenly Maiden' (a.k.a. 'The Great Buddha', 'Thousand-Handed Goddess of Mercy', etc.)

C: China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, this work draws on the 'Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes' modeling of Guanyin as the core of the mural paintings of Dunhuang, the colorful sculptures of Datong in Shanxi Province, and the Lohan Hall of Setsubun Temple in Yunnan Province, etc.

This work is the first of its kind in China.

1987: Wa Dance "Mighty Dong" Group Dance (specially created by Beijing Dance Academy Youth Dance Troupe) Performer: Guan Mingjun, Performing Unit: Beijing Dance Academy Youth Dance Troupe;

1988: Military Theme "Fresh Breeze Sends Sharpness" 1988: Large-scale Dance Drama "Zhaoshutun and Nianmu Noona" (Repeated) Performing Unit Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture Nationality Song and Dance Troupe.

One of the 1987 works, the Chinese classical group dance "Auspicious Heavenly Maiden" was taught by the lead dancer, Liu Lu, to the China Disabled People's Art Troupe in 1999, and was performed at the opening ceremony of the World Paralympics in 2000 and broadcast at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 2005, which was highly acclaimed and won awards.

In 2010, for the young disabled dancers Ma Li, Xiaowei (3 + 3 dance team) created a wheelchair with the help of a more perfect performance of duo dance skills and lifting. And in March 2010 to participate in the international charity gala premiere success.
