The branches of Ardisia crenata are distributed in the Yangtze River valley and Taiwan Province, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan provinces, and often live in wet places near puddles and under shrubs. Because of its shade tolerance and considerable foliage, it is very suitable for indoor potted plants. But at present, only a few flower lovers plant pots in Wenzhou, Yueqing, Pingyang and other places in Zhejiang. Most of its plants are directly dug from Shan Ye, so it is not recommended. Ardisia crenata can actually be sown and propagated. It is sown in early May and germinated in June, but its growth is too slow. Because the stem is erect and the tree shape is too high, it can be dwarfed by cutting to promote the growth of adventitious buds for further branching.
Ardisia crenata is shade-tolerant and grows well in scattered light environment. If exposed to the sun, it is easy to get sunburned or even die. Open-air cultivation should be shaded from July to September, and watered once in the morning and evening to keep the soil moist. When buds appear, 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be sprayed on the leaves once every half month for 2-3 times continuously, which can improve the fruit setting rate.
Roots and whole plants are used as medicine, which tastes bitter and cold. Has the effects of clearing away heat, reducing pathogenic fire, relieving swelling and toxic materials, promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, resolving phlegm and relieving cough. Indications: Tonsillitis, toothache, traumatic injury, wind arthralgia, female leucorrhea and menstrual pain.
