Do you know the creative background of Liuyang River?
Background1September, 1950, in the musical "Double Grain Delivery" created by Xu Shuhua, a young actor of Hunan Xiangjiang Art Troupe, there was a male and female duet of Liuyang River. This song was originally adapted from the tune of the Beijing opera "Little Cowherd". Later, Zhu Liqi and Qi Zhitian of the crew changed the tune of Autumn Melon from Mr. Tang Biguang according to Qiyang minor music, and changed the slow four beats of the original song into fast two beats, showing a cheerful mood. After the audition, the effect is very good. On May 22nd, 195 1, "Double Grain Delivery" was selected and delivered to Beijing, and performed for members of the Politburo in Huairentang, with Mao Zedong attending. After the performance, Mao Zedong stood up and applauded, nodding and smiling. He fell in love with Liuyang River. Since then, "Liuyang River" has gradually separated from the musical "Double Grain Delivery" and become a widely sung song. In the early 1950s, Mao Zedong often attended dances held in Chunou Zhai, Zhongnanhai every Saturday night. He always sits on the sofa for a while after arriving. Usually, the first piece the band plays for Mao Zedong is Liuyang River.
