The Changing Lower Garden

Xiahuayuan - a business card that I am proud of. This business card carries thousands of years of history and culture, and has accumulated countless legendary figures and stories, making Zhang Yuan's corner sparkle and gorgeous in the long scroll of history. Eye-catching!

I heard my father say it when I was very young. The Lower Garden was named after the upper, middle and lower gardens built by Empress Dowager Xiao during the Liao Dynasty. (Empress Dowager Xiao Chuo was a famous politician, strategist, and reformer in history. During her regency, she built water conservancy projects and worked hard... making the people rich and the country strong...) Empress Dowager Xiao Chuo left a strong mark on the long scroll of history. of a sum. The lower garden with the royal symbol has become the pride and pride of the children of the garden.

Of course, the pride of Garden people stems more from the beauty and richness of their hometown. The surrounding areas of Garden City are mostly shallow mountains and irregular layers of loess terraces. The long history and culture have created a unique landscape. Different crops such as grains, millet, potatoes, corn, sunflowers... echo with the lush natural vegetation, forming beautiful landscape paintings... Coal, electricity, metallurgy, machinery, and building materials are the economic and industrial pillars of the garden people. It is said that coal was mined in Huayuan Coal Mine during the Republic of China. The power plant also has a history of more than seventy years. The three major state-owned enterprises, coal mines, power plants and calcium carbide plants, have greatly accelerated the development and construction of the garden economy. At the same time, most of the people in Garden City were provided with iron rice bowls and royal food. Perhaps this was thanks to the Empress Dowager Xiao Chuo! This really makes us farmers who face the loess and back to the sky envious and jealous!

The first time I visited Xiahuayuan in person was when I graduated from elementary school in 1981. I went to the city to take a photo of my elementary school graduation. I remember that there were fourteen boys and seven girls in the class crowded on a carriage in the production team. We were led by the principal, Mr. Huang Jinfu, and the head teacher, Mr. Tan Shiyong. He commanded three fat and strong mules with a long whip swinging like a handlebar. It was a bumpy ride. It passes through Shijiaying, Xiyouliang and Jiming Mountain. When you reach the foot of Jiming Mountain, you will reach the Garden City. Jiming Mountain is known as the Garden Little Mount Tai. A lonely mountain with lush vegetation, towering and majestic. Blossoming white clouds wander between the lush mountainside and temples, and the green mountains and blue sky connect into one picture, making visitors feel like they are in a fairyland. It is said that Emperor Kangxi climbed Jiming Mountain twice during the Kangxi period, and the "Wolong Stone" where he rested is still "lying" beside the trail. Jiming Mountain is now one of the famous tourist attractions in the garden, and Wolong Stone has naturally seen countless tourists lying down and taking a nap. At that time, we passed by this place but did not have the opportunity to feast our eyes on it...

After crossing a small bridge and stone cave, we stepped on the ground of the Royal Garden. To the north of the road, next to the mountain stood the Lower Garden Hospital. Xiahuayuan Hospital is also a well-known local Dashuiquan Hospital. Although Dashuiquan Hospital has treated countless patients and countless little lives have been born here, people still resist coming here. Nearly 100 meters of asphalt road downhill. To the south of the road is the People's Park of Xiahuayuan. A red brick wall as tall as one person separates pedestrians from the park's landscape. The words "five cents per person" are prominently written on the outside of the small pavilion at the entrance of the park. . Four small red letters blocked us directly from the park.

We withdrew our busy eyes and followed the teacher to the photo studio. The photo studio was not big. Except for a few staff members, we did not see anyone else taking pictures. Our arrival made the deserted photo studio It suddenly became lively. Following the teacher's instructions, the students lined up to take photos one by one, and then the teachers and students took a group photo. That old black-and-white photo with a reserved expression became a beautiful memory of our childhood!

After walking out of the photo studio, the teacher took us to Xinhua Bookstore. It was the first time we saw a room full of books, but we were stupidly fascinated by the colorful little books. Maybe the classmates We didn’t bring enough money, so we each chose a favorite little book and left. It wasn't until I entered junior high school that I saw the book "Teacher Wang Talks about Composition with Primary School Students" bought by classmate Duan Jiabao, that I knew that Xinhua Bookstore had extracurricular readings that were more suitable for our study...

June's At noon, the sun was shining brightly and we had nowhere to hide. Only then did we feel thirsty, hungry, hot, and tired. The teacher took us into a small restaurant, begged us for cold water, and ordered each of us a bowl of rice for 20 cents and a bowl of egg soup for 10 cents. It’s lunch after entering the city!

The last stop was to the bustling department store in Lower Garden. Although the department store only had three floors, in my eyes at that time it was a skyscraper. I couldn't help but marvel at the greatness of the architect, who was able to fold up such a huge house.

I was dazzled by the beautiful clothes in the building. I had no choice but to be short of money, so I only chose a pair of cheap black sandals. It was a worthwhile trip... The twenty-mile journey made us afraid to stay in love for a long time, and we ended with reluctance. My first trip to Lower Garden City!

Time flies, and in the past forty years of reform and construction, both rural areas and garden cities have undergone earth-shaking changes. Duanjiabao Township is about to build the most beautiful agricultural planting garden in the garden area. Liujiazhuang Forest Park is already one of the famous tourist attractions in the Garden District. A spacious asphalt road shortens the distance between the countryside and the Garden City. Children in rural areas attend garden schools and enjoy the same nine-year compulsory education as children in cities. At the same time, most of the villagers have also moved into the buildings in Garden City. Now my villagers have truly become the masters of the lower garden. Urban-rural integration has truly been realized!

When I was a kid, going to Garden City was called "going out", but now going to Garden City is called "going home". It makes me feel refreshed every time I go home. Through the bus window, I saw more and more high-rise buildings being expanded in Garden City, which was both strange and familiar. As a road blind person, I dare not get off the car at will because I am always afraid of getting lost. The most familiar sections are around the bus station and People’s Park. Because buses or private cars returning to Duanjiabao Township are parked beside the park road. The park no longer has walls. Passing here, you can have an unobstructed view of the beautiful scenery of the park. There are rockery flowers from the north and small bridges and flowing water from the south of the Yangtze River. There are entertainers playing music and singing, as well as bodybuilders dancing gracefully. Taking advantage of the time to wait for the bus, taking a break on the steps, or walking along the beautiful scenery will make people feel refreshed and relaxed...

Taoyuan, Yiyuan, Ansheng Garden, Fuxiang Garden, Country Garden...each garden. The garden is magnificent and is not only a home for gardeners, but also a leisure residence for Beijingers. Beijingers fall in love with the beautiful scenery and fresh air of Xiahua Garden, and they buy properties, take vacations, or escape the heat in midsummer.

The means of transportation from Beijing to Xiayuan Garden are no longer limited to the old green trains. Now there are convenient private cars and 880 buses that leave every ten minutes. The Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway will also be opened at the end of 2019. The implementation of the eight-vertical and eight-horizontal plan will connect the Chongli High-speed Railway and the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway, the core of the Winter Olympics, with Xiahuayuan North Station. Xiahuayuan is connected in all directions, with Huailai to the east, Zhulu to the south, and Xuanhua to the northwest. The Xiahuayuan, an important transportation thoroughfare, has become a happy station for tourists.

In order to celebrate the Winter Olympics and save energy and reduce emissions, the industrious and intelligent garden people closed the century-old coal mine. The renderings of the world's first water tower show for power plant renovation have been released. It is understood that it will bring together water curtains, fireworks, laser dance and three-dimensional projection effects, lifelike scenes and vivid characters, as well as a fantasy visual feast of 3D effects. By then, the magical giant The curtain effect is stunning. It also adds new landscaping to the lower garden. The dream restaurant and bar street in the center of the lake, the large-scale water passion sprint, the flower cube, the reed maze...everywhere wonders are being implemented and launched. By then, ice and snow, rafting, grass skiing and other projects will also enrich the cultural and entertainment life of Garden people.

Today’s Royal Garden combines the ancient cultural heritage with the young trends of the times to create a unique spark. A vibrant and beautiful garden will bloom in the most beautiful way!
