The term "qigong" first appeared in the Jin Dynasty in Xu Xun's "Record of the Religion of Pure Brightness", which contains the record of "Explanation of Qigong". Before the liberation of Dong Hao's "special treatment of consumption disease qigong therapy" and the China Bookstore's "Shaolin Boxing Secrets" and other books, have mentioned the word "qigong". However, it was not until 1953 that Liu Guizhen and other compilers of the book "Qigong Therapy Practice" made a complete explanation of qigong, and qigong began to be identified and popularized as an official term.
It is generally believed that qigong arose during the Shang Dynasty. By the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, qigong had already formed a certain theoretical system, Taoism, Confucianism, and medical schools all studied the laws of life movement and put forward their own ideas. After the introduction of Buddhism into China, Buddhist philosophy about the universe and the theory of human life and the ancient life of our country combined, the traditional Buddhist practice methods and the ancient qigong cultivation of our country combined, thus promoting the development of qigong science in theory and practice.
