How did Guilin's landscape come into being?

Guilin landscape refers to the Lijiang River area in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, which is a unique karst landform. The limestone here is dissolved by water into round hills with beautiful scenery and picturesque scenery.

In Guilin and Yangshuo on both sides of the Lijiang River in Guangxi, there are many strange peaks. These peaks are flickering, some are like bamboo shoots like swords, some are like warriors and old people, and some are like elephants and tigers. There are many underground rivers, caves, stalactites, stalagmites and stone pillars here. Nature is ingenious, so that the ground and underground together form a wonderful picture. Beautiful scenery, known as "Guilin landscape is the best in the world" (meaning the first landscape in the world). Among them, Yangshuo area is more beautiful and moving, even better than Guilin, and there is a saying that "Yangshuo landscape is better than Guilin". The famous Elephant Trunk Mountain, like the elephant's nose, is a very attractive tourist attraction.

Guilin's landform is karst landform, which is slowly formed by the dissolution of calcium carbonate in limestone by running water for many years. Generally speaking, the peaks at an altitude of 300-400 meters we see now were formed 70 million years ago, 25 million years ago and 2 million years ago respectively. The mountain peak with an altitude of 2 10-230 meters was formed from 2 million years ago to 6,543.8 million years ago, while stalactites, stalagmites and stone pillars in caves were gradually formed from 6,543.8 million years ago.
