Don’t forget this free park when you go to Xiamen. The city’s landmark is here and it’s famous for feeding pigeons.

Xiamen’s tourist attractions are as numerous as the stars, including nationally famous scenic spots such as Gulangyu Island and Nanputuo Temple. When I was in Xiamen, I spent 4 days just visiting the scenic spots. Among them was a park that is often forgotten by tourists, but it has a special meaning for Xiamen. It is Bailuzhou Park.

The egret is the city bird of Xiamen. It came to this island before humans. When the early Xiamen people landed on this uninhabited island, they saw groups of egrets floating on the water, so they crowned them Known as "Heron Island". In Xiamen, there are many streets and shops named after "Heron". The light egret has become the best wishes of Xiamen people.

The most famous thing in the park is the Statue of the Egret Goddess, which is now a Xiamen city landmark. The Egret Goddess Statue is located in East Park. There is a long-haired woman with a delicate face carved on the boulder. She is half-kneeling by the lake and washing her hair with water. An egret is perched on her shoulder. The woman looks back at the egret with a smile.

Women mean nurturing and life, and egrets mean beauty. The whole statue gives people a sense of harmony and tranquility. I think the city of Xiamen will be full of vitality and vitality like the statue.

Bailuzhou Park is located in Yuandang Lake. The word "Yundang" is pronounced "yún dāng", which means bamboo growing by the water. Yuandang Lake was originally connected to the sea. In the 1970s, land was reclaimed from the sea and a floating island was built to connect the west embankment to the east. From then on, Yuandang Lake became an inner lake and was named Bailuzhou.

Yuandang Lake is extremely clear, with a water area of ??1.7 square kilometers. On a sunny day, the lake surface glows with golden light without any ripples. The entire lake surface is like a gem worth tens of millions, emitting a breathtaking blue color. Isn’t this blue the representative color of Xiamen? Romantic, tranquil and vibrant, Xiamen, once a remote and desolate island, has now transformed into a famous tourist city in the world.

Bailuzhou Park is divided into two parts by a road. The east park is a musical fountain square. Next to the square is a tall greenway. The carefully constructed gardens make people feel as if they have been abroad.

Whenever night falls, the musical fountain starts its performance. The gorgeous lights and the dancing spring water attract many people to come and watch, making it a scene in Xiamen. Once upon a time, the night view of Yundang Lake was also very beautiful. On a moonlit night, the fully loaded fishing boats returned to the harbor and lined up on the shore. Each boat had a light, reflected in the water, swaying and erratic, turning on and off, and the sparkling gravel was a symbol of "Yundang Night" ".

After the construction of the West Embankment, the fishing fires disappeared, and the once bright and twinkling Yuandang night became a touch of warmth deep in people's memories.

The West Park is larger, with the Egret Goddess Statue and Pigeon Square as the center. It is free and open with an elegant environment. The Egret Goddess Statue is 13.6 meters high. After arriving in Xiamen, many tourists will make a special trip to take photos with the goddess before arriving in Xiamen.

Pigeon Square is a must-go. In Xiamen, feeding pigeons has become a famous local experience. This group of pigeons was imported from the Netherlands. There are 400 of them. They are very courageous and not afraid of people at all. Every day, many tourists come here to feed them. They will jump up to you and take the food in your hands with their mouths.

Many parents came with their children that day, and the children staggered towards the pigeons. The pigeons were not in a hurry and quietly picked up the food on the grass. This picture is beautiful. The child and the dove live in harmony, which represents the harmony between man and nature, beauty and warmth. Isn't this what the Egret Goddess wants to express?

There are many attractions in the park, such as the Mother and Child Statue, the Cultural Relics Museum, and the entire Bailuzhou is a microcosm of Xiamen for hundreds of years, with history, culture, and of course, the dazzling future.

With blooming flowers, green grass, dancing bees and butterflies, and flocks of birds flying, the environment of Bailuzhou Park is also first-rate. If you go to Xiamen, don’t forget this free park, take a walk and have a better understanding of this beautiful “Heron City”.
