Institute Introduction
Central University for Nationalities (CUNY) is a comprehensive university focusing on the construction of national "211 Project" and "985 Project". The School of Dance of Central University for Nationalities is a national key disciplinary base of minority arts and the cradle of Chinese folk dancers. While cultivating senior professionals in folk dance with specialties, comprehensive qualities and high practical and theoretical research ability, the school also shoulders the important responsibility of inheriting, developing and promoting the dance culture of Chinese minorities. After more than 50 years of development, the Academy has become a center of Chinese minority dance art integrating minority dance education, performance, creation and research.
Founded in 1957, the Department of Dance of Central University for Nationalities has formed a pattern of academic education including undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, and professional education in dance performance, education, choreography, history and piano accompaniment after more than 50 years of school history. At the same time, it has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree authorization point. Over the past decades, the college has trained thousands of excellent talents in folk dance choreography, education, performance and management. They are active in various art colleges and universities, performing groups and governmental departments across the country, and many of them have become experts and scholars as well as outstanding figures in various fields. At present, there are more than 500 undergraduates, master students and doctoral students*** in the School of Dance.
The School of Dance has a multi-ethnic, strong, rich teaching experience, a combination of old, middle-aged and young faculty. There are 18 teachers with senior titles and 33 teachers with intermediate titles, among whom there are many famous dance educators, choreographers and national performing artists who are renowned both at home and abroad, which gives the School of Dance an absolute advantage in the education of high-level folk dance. In order to cultivate creative, research-oriented and composite outstanding talents in folk dance, the college has established four major curriculum systems complementing basic technical skills courses, folk dance courses, basic theory courses and art practice courses, and has basically formed a practice and internship system combining classroom learning and social practice. The teaching of folk dance is a specialty of the School of Dance, which is in a leading position in China in terms of classroom teaching, repertoire creation and stage performance.
Over the past decades, the School of Dance has achieved fruitful results in research: published "Oriental charm" minority dance series of 14 textbooks, folk dance teaching repertoire of nearly 100; published academic monographs, published hundreds of academic papers, teaching and research awards more than 180. More than 200 dance works have been created, such as the large-scale dance drama "Great Changes in Liangshan" and the large-scale drum dance "Oriental Sunrise", etc. The most representative works include the group dances "Running", "Changbai Auspicious Clouds", "Red River Valley", "Preface", "Plateau", and "Jinhe Valley". In addition to undertaking large-scale domestic performances, the Academy has been invited to dozens of countries in Asia, Europe and North America, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for performances. The distinctive style of folk dance and superb performing arts have won high praise from foreign friends and received cordial reception from national leaders, contributing to the inheritance, development and promotion of the dance culture of Chinese ethnic minorities as well as the prosperity of the cause of folk dance education.

Dance Performance
This major is mainly to cultivate higher specialists engaged in folk dance performance, and to deliver dancers for professional arts groups all over the country; graduates can also be engaged in dance education, choreography in performing arts groups or dance editing and dance research in other cultural units.

Choreography (Dance Education)
The major is to cultivate higher specialists engaged in the education of folk dance, and to provide dance teachers for art colleges, professional art groups, and art vocational schools across the country; graduates can also be engaged in dance performances, choreography, as well as dance editing and dance research work in art groups.
Major courses: Chinese folk dance, ballet, Chinese classical dance, modern dance, dance pedagogy, teaching repertoire, choreography techniques, basic theory of music, composition and work analysis, human anatomy, pedagogy, psychology, literature and writing, general introduction to art, general introduction to dance, history of Chinese dance, history of foreign dance.
Dance Choreography major?
This major is mainly to train senior professionals engaged in folk dance, dance drama choreography, for the national and ethnic areas of professional arts organizations, colleges and universities of the arts, art vocational schools, etc. to convey engaged in the Chinese folk dance and dance drama creation, dance choreography teaching and theoretical research professionals; at the same time, can also be engaged in the arts colleges and universities, cultural and artistic organizations in the dance performance, teaching, or cultural and public institutions engaged in dance creation, editing, and so on. At the same time, they can also be engaged in dance performance and teaching in art colleges and universities, cultural and art organizations, or in dance creation, editing and dance research in cultural enterprises and institutions.

Tuition standards
Per student per year: 10,000 RMB for Dance Performance; 8,000 RMB for Dance (Dance Education) and Choreography.
Application conditions, time and place, method
I. Application conditions
(a) Candidates must have graduated from secondary school of dance or have the same academic ability.
(b) Active military personnel applying for the examination must be approved by the Political Department of the Grand Military Region.

II. Application Methods
The Dance Academy will only have its own test center this year, and will implement online application and on-site confirmation. Candidates shall log on this website from January 15, 2015 until the on-site confirmation, and fill in and submit the textual information and electronic photographs carefully and accurately in strict accordance with the instructions and requirements of the "Application Instructions" (the uploaded electronic photographs shall be a colorful, front-facing, crown-free photograph with a white background, the size of 148*195 pixels or in the same proportion as this, the size of the file between 10K-50K, and the suffix shall be a lower-case (The file size should be between 10K and 50K, and the suffix name should be lowercase "jpg", which can be processed by any photo studio). Candidates who have completed the online application, please go to the school according to the specified time for on-site confirmation.
The following materials are required to be submitted for on-site confirmation (of which copies of materials and photos will be retained by the school):
1. The original and copy of ID card (the original, copy and ID number of the household register for those without ID card), temporary ID card is invalid.
2. The original and photocopy of the documents issued by the provincial recruitment office organizing the registration for the art college entrance examination.

The information of the qualified candidates of the professional test will be uniformly reported to the provincial recruitment offices by the University.
