Mei Lanfang is always dissatisfied with the "sudden surprise" of a woman she plays. One day, Mei Lanfang came home from work and found his wife Fu Zhifang absorbed in sorting out clothes.
He thought, at this time if let her listen to a loud noise, what surprise will appear? So he picked up an orchid porcelain basin and threw it on the ground.
Sure enough, the lady cried in surprise and threw her clothes away. It took half a ring to speak. At the moment of this loud noise, Mei Lanfang accurately captured his wife's surprised expression and movements.
2. Be critical of others
19 17 12, Mei Lanfang sang The Goddess Scattered Flowers several times. A local wealthy businessman was full of praise: "This play is too vulgar and rigid. It is better to look at the bitch who scolds the street than the goddess who is neither dead nor alive.
What does it feel like for a man to pretend to be a woman? I strongly suggest that you stop pretending to be a fairy, dirty! "This word reached Mei Lanfang, and he just laughed it off. Soon, Li Weicheng, a good friend of Mei Lanfang, came to see him. Li Weicheng is a die-hard opera fan.
He saw "Goddess Scattered Flowers" and said, "I didn't sing very well today. There are too many silk dances in the two Kunqu operas, which make people see things in a blur and can't distinguish paragraphs and levels. If you keep singing like this, it's easy to walk on a slippery road. I suggest you correct it. "
Mei Lanfang was deeply ashamed when she heard this, and she did increase or decrease her figure and dance at will. Later, Mei Lanfang decided to figure and dance, and sang "Rules". Gai Jiaotian, a famous Peking Opera actor, watched The Goddess Scattered Flowers for three consecutive days.
3. Degrade yourself in the face of criticism.
On one occasion, Mei Lanfang performed the Peking Opera "Killing People" in a big theater, and the audience was filled with cheers. At this moment, a voice came from the corner of the theater: "No! Not good! " Mei Lanfang looked inside and turned out to be an old man in plain clothes.
After the break, Mei Lanfang found the old man and took him to his residence by car, waiting for him as a guest. Mei Lanfang respectfully said, "Those who say I am a good teacher are also my teachers. If the teacher says I'm not good, I must have a good opinion. Please give me advice. Students are determined to make up for it. "
Seeing that Mei Lanfang was so courteous, the old man solemnly pointed out: "According to the regulations of the pear garden, the corner walk upstairs and downstairs should be up and down. How do you go up and down? " When Mei Lanfang heard this, she suddenly realized what she had missed, so she bowed her head and thanked her.
4. Understand the righteousness and aim high.
1937, the lugouqiao incident broke out, and the Japanese invaders invaded China in an all-round way, and soon Beijing fell. Mei Lanfang didn't want to live under Japanese occupation, so she moved her family to Shanghai. Soon Shanghai was also captured. In order to whitewash the peace and win people's hearts, the Japanese army sent people to persuade Mei Lanfang to come out and act.
Mei Lanfang decisively rejected the Japanese aggressors' demands and kept a clear head. The Japanese army failed to win over, so they arrested Mei Lanfang for interrogation. In the face of intimidation and inducements, Mei Lanfang did not change her original intention. Japanese senior officials were furious and scolded: "On the stage, you are just putting on airs!"
Mei Lanfang replied forcefully word by word: "Under the stage, I am a man!" Mei Lanfang showed the national justice to the fullest. During the whole Anti-Japanese War, Mei Lanfang never performed for the Japanese aggressors.
5. Confrontation with Chiang Kai-shek's argot
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, on the third day after Mei Lanfang resumed her performance, Chiang Kai-shek went to the theater to watch. After the performance, Chiang Kai-shek met Mei Lanfang and said to him, "You are a patriotic artist. Nice to meet you today. "
When he left, Chiang Kai-shek personally wrote four characters: "China of the Nation" to Mei Lanfang. From then on, Mei Lanfang and Chiang Kai-shek met. Subsequently, Chiang Kai-shek unilaterally tore up the agreement and openly provoked a civil war, and the country fell into war again. Mei Lanfang was extremely anxious and wanted to persuade Chiang Kai-shek.
1947 In August, when Mei Lanfang performed at Shanghai Meiqi Grand Theatre, it happened that Chiang Kai-shek was also in Shanghai, so people sent two tickets to Chiang Kai-shek and attached a note.
It said, "Here are two tickets. You can bring a friend, if you still have friends. " Obviously, Mei Lanfang hinted that Chiang Kai-shek would lose friends and become a loner.
Chiang Kai-shek certainly understood the meaning after reading it, but still stubbornly replied: "I am very busy, so I won't go to see this in person, but I will see your fate, if you have a good end."
Chiang Kai-shek's answer was a pun, and he was not polite. Mei Lanfang read the note and sighed. Everyone knows everything, and the words have reached this point. Since then, Mei Lanfang has never had contact with Chiang Kai-shek again.
