Crush: Mariko
Pursuers: Touda Mirei and other drag queens
Touda first shows his crush on Ono in the TV series Touda's Love and confesses his love for him at the end of the series, which is rejected by Ono. The author sets up Ono as a sunny boy who is uncomfortable with relationship matters and doesn't like to get involved with girls, but it's clear from the episodes that Ono warms up to and likes Mariko. Note: Ono first appeared in the theatrical version: Years of Friendship, and has been active mainly in the second installment since then. In the first 400 episodes Ono made frequent appearances as the most prominent character in the supporting cast and grew in popularity. However, this did not change Ono's status as a supporting character, so after 400 episodes, Ono's appearances decreased in frequency, which led to discontent among some supporters of Maruno. Despite the decrease in appearances, Ono's popularity is still the highest among all male characters, and the production team won't easily ignore Ono, but the chances for Maruno to be together are drastically reduced.
