Plot:
Mo Xiaobei rode her horse wildly, rushed to the front of the Anhai Bridge, where the railing was, and leaped over to chew on the mud and sand. Then she leads her horse through the pool under the bridge, a scene she's seen on TV.
The Qinhuai River. In the darkness of the night, a red line stretches from the village of colored lanterns, pulling out the sparkle of this Jiangnan town. Women wearing big red scooped head scarves, their makeup rather like nocturnal butterflies, dance to music to soft persimmons by a small pond at the Sugar Girl Entertainment Hall.
In the crowd, Mo Xiaobei and Lu Junyi met. Lu Junyi stayed at the inn for the night, and when he heard that Cowardly Three was at the Qinhuai River, he sought out Mo Xiaobei.
Afterward, Lu Junyi and Mo Xiaobei built a bridge and strangled the Invitation to the Moon Bridge with a red head rope. Lu Junyi uses a southern maneuver to get Mo Xiaobei to jump out of her rut, allowing her to see the larger world.
On a red rainy night, Wu Qiong and Pan Jinlian meet at the Kongfu seat. Pan Jinlian could be honored by her family for sacrificing herself to save Han Chunrong, but she refuses, saying, "Don't divide us women so clearly.
The emotional entanglement between them erupts in the midst of their predicament. Pan Jinlian pours her heart out to Wu Qiong, saying she is an exploited woman who can't accept the fate of working for a man. Wu Qiong also says that he can't stand the injustice that women are subjected to in marriage, and they both hope to change that.
In the end, Pan Jinlian was framed by design and forced to commit adultery with the master of science, Lawrence Liu, and eventually committed suicide and martyrdom, making her one of the unfortunate women in the Golden Hairpin.
