The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the birthplace of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Lancang River.

The Yangtze River originates from Gladong Snow Mountain, the main peak of Tanggula Mountain in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and winds eastward. Its main stream flows through the 1 1 provincial administrative region and flows into the East China Sea. The Yellow River originates from the Bayan Kara Mountains in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and its main stream flows through nine provincial administrative regions and finally flows into the Bohai Sea. The Lancang River originated in Tanggula, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with an altitude of 5,200 meters. It flows through Qinghai, Tibet and Yunnan provinces, and leaves the country in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, becoming the boundary river between Laos and Myanmar, and later known as Mekong River. Mekong River flows through Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, and flows into the South China Sea of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
