Shadow's Words

First of all, the record "Right Hand Years, Left Hand Flowers" is for a Shanghai-themed musical I'm working on. The city and the people in the city, the years and the years between, the fate and the love and hate in the fate, the desires and the struggles under the desires, these are the themes of the musical I love. I dreamed of having a musical that encompassed all of these elements, a musical of my own. I have been dreaming of this for a long time, and was destined to fulfill this creative mission the moment I stepped onto the stage as a child, for which I paid the price of growing up, but reaped the fruits of my dream. Weber, the master of musical theater, once said, "All successful musicals are the result of re-creation". The story I am going to tell with music may not be a household anecdote, but it will certainly stir up the senses, float with the truth of human nature, and diffuse the romance of imagination. So this is her story, my story and your story. Of course, music is always the soul of a musical, "right hand years, left hand flowers", for me, the only thing that can override the "years" and "flowers" is probably music! For me, music is the only thing that can override both "years" and "flowers". It is neither held in the left hand nor escaped in the right hand ...... Because it is hidden in the bottom of the heart.

About "Right Hand Years, Left Hand Flowers"

One afternoon in the early spring of last year, the director came to my musical theater studio in 798 for a chat. He was talking about the TV drama "Pear Blossom in the Rain" (then called "Singing Girls Under the Iron Hoof") that he was planning to make, and how he was looking for a new idea for the drama as there were already too many movies about old Shanghai. At that time, I was preparing the music for a Shanghai-themed musical, and I already had three or four good songs on hand. I sang them to him, and the director was so impressed that he decided on the spot that I would produce and sing the songs for The Pear Blossom in the Rainstorm. From that moment on, "Pear Blossom in a Rainstorm" realized her "magnificent transformation" and became a distinctive Shanghai opera, because she found her clue, her vein, her soul - a thing called "music". The music" is something called "music". In the late fall, "Pear Blossom in a Rainstorm" was broadcast, and the news from all over the world made the director and I feel that all our efforts for her were not in vain. People love the songs in it, which makes me very happy. Whether it's a TV drama or a musical, I think it's not just because of the charm of the music, but the endless reverie and deep nostalgia we have for the beautiful time that has already passed, and for the vicissitudes of history that are fading away, right? This album is titled "Right Hand Years, Left Hand Flowers" and consists of two CDs, "Right Hand Years" and "Left Hand Flowers". Last but not least, I would like to thank you for liking my songs, like me, you are people who won't be easily romanticized by life, I love you!

Theater, and saw the first musical of my life, which was Jerome Kerns and Oscar Hammerstein II's Acting Ship (I still have the program from that night), and I think I was in deep shock by the 2-hour show, because as I walked back to my hotel along 42nd Street, I heard my heart beating wildly in the dark and murmured to myself, "I'm going to be a I want to be a musical theater performer, and I want those songs." The next five years of hard work finally brought me to the stage of my dreams, so I decided to honor this incredible triumph with a record. All twelve tracks chosen for the album are so beautiful that sometimes I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to sing, perform and record them. I would like to give special thanks to my teacher and producer Lee Su-Young, whose longtime training and encouragement have made me and this album exceptional; to my recording engineer Su Qian, whose personality and technique are an invaluable asset to my friends; to the musicians who accompanied me and who inspired these songs; and of course to the songwriters and composers who wrote these monumental compositions, which to me mean more than just a delightful piece of music. For me, these works are not only melodies and lyrics, but they also inspire and empower me. For example, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's "The Unexpected Song" actually expresses the same feelings about unpredictable life, love, and dreams: "I never knew it would happen, I couldn't believe my eyes ------. My teachers often said to me, "You were born to be an actor", "Born to be an actor" is of course unpredictable, but I am indeed gifted; I never envisioned that I would come into contact with musical theater, but it came into my life overnight! I never envisioned that I would be introduced to musical theater, but it came into my life overnight and became my lifelong passion. Today, I ask myself if I could have foreseen more about the future, or does what is yours come sooner or later? There is no answer, perhaps life and all its secrets are like a song, a song of unanticipated arrival.

Introduction to the show

About Inspiration and Dreams Do you still remember the dreams you had when you were a child? When did it start, giving up on the dream? When did you slowly forget that you once had a dream? Dreams and reality, the gap is so large that it is often embarrassing. Whenever we see someone's dream come true because of insisting on it, we can't help but be moved to tears. In an era where there are many realities and few dreams, can we be encouraged to hold on a little longer? Bizarre story This is a stage play that seems to be a musical, the story starts from the Broadway stage in the United States, a Chinese girl who has a dream for western musicals, comes to Broadway to participate in various interviews after failing over and over again to return home, but did not realize that the interviews in the country as well as the environment of the musicals are even more bizarre and mind-boggling. It was only when her career and love were not going well and she decided to give up and change her career that she finally got the chance to perform on stage. The unique and innovative format "Big Theater, Two Hours, One Person", with only one actor on stage for the entire night, takes the form of performances including - narration, drama, stand-up comedy, play within a play, multimedia, monologue, narration, and one person playing multiple roles, and lots of live singing of difficult Broadway musical classics. In the form of musical performance, it tells the embarrassment of the current situation of domestic musical theater. It makes people wonder how beautiful the dream is, but the reality is so unbearable. The Unique Cast This is the story of Shadow, the star of the show, and his personal pursuit of the dream of musical theater. Shadow spent his early years studying drama and musical theater performance at the University of California, Park Lane and the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where he earned his MFA and performed in productions at Chicago's Schubert Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, and the Second City Comedy Theatre. Upon her return to China, she originally expected to realize her dream of musical theater on the Chinese stage, but unexpectedly she encountered many obstacles on the way to pursuing her dream - from the creation of music lyrics and compositions, the cultivation of musical actors, the production process of musicals, the business environment of the musical market, and even the audience base, which is full of all kinds of helplessness. However, it was only due to her own strong originality, the persistence of veteran musical theater producer Li Suyou, and the assistance of like-minded friends from all sides that this performance was made possible. A cross-border combination of professional teams This show, directed by Chen Lihua of Daya Theater, is a tailor-made performance for Shadow. The choreographer Bian Wentong, the lighting artist Xing Xin, and the producer Li Suyou are all highly sought-after theater professionals. This is also the first co-production between Daya Theater and Beijing Modern Shadow Performance Planning Company, which stands for the bold attempt of combining theater and music across borders, and is more than worthy of the audience's expectation. One man's dream One man's struggle One man's failure One man's loneliness One man's persistence One man's pain One man's love One man's persistence One man's stage play "I had a dream" Please give me 90 minutes to make you fall in love with musical theater for life!

Shadow's words

My mood always zeros out to a calm initial state at the moment of curtain call and applause, and the clamor of the stage, the noise of the world, the sound of the river chattering in the night all disappears. The so-called phenomena cannot change the silent nature of the world. When everything disappears, there is only one thing that lasts forever - the faith and passion of love. The souls of people burning for love have cast unwavering shadows on the river of history for thousands of years, and the passion of mankind to find love and dream will be eternal.
