I'm Burnie, the official mascot of the Miami Heat, an energetic, neat and classy, hip and cute NBA fan. I love hanging out with the superstars, and I love the referees, and it's very entertaining indeed when it comes to seeing them occasionally laugh, make fun, or get so tired they can't help swearing.
Friends say I consistently act on my own, and I try to make myself a great action-comedy star because I believe, "A gesture is worth a thousand words."
I love a good basketball game, and no one in Florida is more of a geek than I am, and everything is fun to me. I get especially excited when the Heat are playing, blocking the view of the crowd, sneaking up on them, dancing through the aisles, turning around and making an appearance into the binoculars - I do it all the time.
Partners across the country thought I was a celebrity, and I used to play Spray the Ribbon Battle with Bill CoSuper Boyy, huddle onstage with Jimmy Buffet, sit on Jack Nicholson's lap, tug on Bill Murray's ear, kiss Sharon Stone, dance with Madonna , scoring a touchdown in front of original Buffalo Bills football quarterback Jim Kelly, playing baseball with Cal Ripken Jr, and boxing with Sylvester Stallone.
I think it's important to visit schools and hospitals and get involved with charitable causes. Every July I set aside time to attend the Mascot Olympics in Orlando, which brings in donations for the Children's Hope Foundation, and the kids have a great time when they see me and the other mascots sell out.
This is my 14th year in the league, and on average I pick 14 shoes, six purses and gag with 55 spectators per game. My favorite day of the year is my birthday, when NBA mascots from all over the country come to Miami and we celebrate with a star-studded party.
Fans young and old are welcome to write and communicate with me at my e-mail address, and if you want to invite me to your event, you can reach me at 786.777.4107.
