After listening to the "Happiness Song", Chairman Mao praised the song: "Good! Good! It's as good as Hunan Flower Drum Opera!" Since then, the song and the singer have become famous all over the world.
The song is vivid and beautiful, loved by the masses, and has been one of the most frequently sung folk songs in rural Hubei for many years.
The folk song was included in the China Record Society's "Hubei Folk Songs" album, and was selected for inclusion in the "Hubei Primary and Secondary School Music Teaching Materials", which has become the reserved repertoire of several generations of singers across the country. Hubei composers used this song as the material for the "Happy March", which became the opening song of the Wuhan International Acrobatic Arts Festival.
