Folkloric activities of the Tanabata Festival

Begging for coquettish objects, worshipping the Weaving Maiden, listening to whispers, and the night of Tanabata.

Begging for cleverness is the most traditional folklore activity of the Tanabata Festival. Begging for coquettishness means begging for wisdom and cleverness, begging the Weaving Maiden to grant you skills so that you can become handy too. On the night of the Tanabata Festival, young girls and young women "worship the Weaving Maiden". Girls and young women gather their friends and relatives to worship the Weaving Maiden. People set up a table under the moonlight, set up offerings, girls, young women fasting for a day, bathing, we all go to the front of the case to burn incense and worship.
