The Grandmaster Afterthought
Because of my love of martial arts since childhood, and in anticipation of Wong Kar-wai and Tony Leung Chiu-wai, I was itching to watch the midnight showing of The Grandmaster the night it premiered.
Wong Kar-wai's style. Elegant picture. The vicissitudes of time and space. Meaningful wit. In a trance, I heard Zhang Ziyi as Miss Gong Er sighed: "My father told me that learning martial arts has three realms - see yourself, see the world, see all beings ......."
Watching After finishing the movie, the cool wind blew, I came to my senses - see yourself, that is, Gong Er said, "no fan not family"; see the world, that is, the heart should be loaded with the world; see the living beings, that is, to give back to the living beings in the life of the lessons learned. These three stages are the "generation of masters" must reach the realm, otherwise you are only "masters", and can not become a "generation of masters". Aren't these also the three stages of a career? To become a master of life, we also have to adapt, compromise, confrontation, acceptance and change in the career, shaping their own unique life pattern.
"See yourself"
From school to the workplace, from "relying on parents" to "relying on yourself", survival is the first priority. The first thing to do is to survive. In order to survive, we have to face a lot of challenges to adapt to the workplace and improve our ability. In this exercise, we recognize ourselves more clearly.
I remember when I first graduated, I did not want to go to the "counterpart" of the Engineering Bureau to deal with reinforced concrete, so I came to Beijing and found a job as an advertising creative. I was able to get a monthly salary of only 600 yuan, and if it wasn't for the help of my classmates, it would have been very difficult to get a foothold in Beijing. At that time, I was a rookie in the profession, and the rules of the workplace do not know much about the world of work, not to be despised by colleagues. Fortunately, I was not afraid of hard work, and diligence can make up for clumsiness. I remember a period of time, I often go to Xidan Book Building to read books after work with a zipper, until the closing time and then take the bus back. Through reading, I met some spiritual mentors in the advertising industry, such as David. Ogilvy and George. Louis, which helped me to form my own beliefs about advertising. In addition, I also mastered the basic skills of advertising copywriting by getting my feet wet in practice. During that time, I had several upheavals in my career, which made me more and more committed to my values. It was a difficult time, but I look back on it now with a sense of nostalgia.
In the "see yourself" stage, we see ourselves and challenge ourselves in the collision with our careers. We will experience various emotions such as boredom, anxiety, loss, confusion, and frustration, and sharpen our minds. As Tyler, the instructor of Harvard Happiness Lessons. Ben. Shahar said, "Learn to fail, learn from failure."
"See heaven and earth"
After the "see yourself" stage, we will find that "there are people outside the world, there is a sky outside the sky! "
I'm an introvert, I'm more introspective than communicative, and I don't have a strong motivation to achieve, so I'm a bit late to the party. Even if I have improved professionally, I have done so from reading books and the Internet, and I have had fewer exchanges with my peers in the advertising circle, and I have not taken the initiative to look for a mentor. I missed a lot of opportunities to enter multinational advertising agencies, and my vision was limited to my own work.
In 2009, I joined the career planning class of New Elite, and I was the 9th participant. This experience was a turning point in my career, because it allowed me to see a bigger world, and to meet friends from different professions - people working in NGOs, sales, and trainers.
These experiences made me start thinking about what I really want to do besides advertising. With this question in mind, I worked as a coach at New Elite (and met more diverse people as a result), gave public lectures, attended career coaching classes, and then became a career planner. This was one of the bigger shifts in my career. At the same time, I was introduced to Dance Therapy through a special opportunity.
In the "seeing the world" stage, we need to explore those unknown places to make our horizons wider; we need to take the initiative to look for opportunities to "ask for advice" or "fight" with first-class masters; we need to integrate ourselves into the workforce. "We need to integrate our talents, skills, knowledge and resources to build our core competitiveness; we need to climb our own "Everest" - some will become experts, some will become managers, some will choose to start their own business, and some will choose to become managers, some will choose to start their own business, and some will choose to start their own business. Some will become experts, some will become managers, some will start their own businesses, and some will develop new interests outside of their careers.
"Seeing the world"
In the "Seeing the world" stage, we start to focus on "how to make the world a better place", which often comes from the idea of "how to make the world a better place".
In the "see all" stage, we start to focus on "how to make the world a better place", which often comes from a sense of mission to "do unto others as we would like to be done unto us". For example, my Sina Weibo ID is @LifeRedesign. This comes from my feelings about life and my hope to inspire more people.
In the past two years, doing career counseling at New Elite, I have had the opportunity to work with many different visitors, some of whom are stronger than me, some of whom are wiser than me, and some of whom are more courageous than me, and I can see the light that shines in their hearts, and the efforts they have made to grow. So, for the last 5 years, I have set myself a goal - to live my life and help people live theirs.
In the process of growing as a dance therapist, I have seen more of life's suffering, and more of the power of change that lies within the human body. Because human nature is interconnected, "seeing all beings" allows me to "see myself" more y.
One of the most important questions to ask about "seeing all beings" is: if you can't fail at anything, what would you rather do with your life?
Even in a serialized TV show, there is a long commercial break at the end of an episode. The chances of you staying in one organization until you grow old are getting slimmer and slimmer, and job-hopping is becoming commonplace. At the same time, you're likely to face a career gap. What's the right thing to do before the new job comes along?
1. Don't be too anxious, adjust your mindset first
If you're completely told to stop being anxious, then don't read this article. The reason for this is that it is not a very good idea to have a good time, but it is a very good idea to have a good time. So, here is just to suggest that you stop the anxiety every now and then, the frequency of anxiety moderately slow down. Because worrying all the time not only doesn't help your next move, but it drags you down to a more passive point where it clouds your judgment and saps your confidence. It is almost impossible to be born as a human being and never meet with frustration. We will always encounter various dilemmas and confusions at various stages, and this is the time when your overall wisdom is tested. A person's energy varies in size, but the mind is of two types, those favoring cheerfulness and those favoring closedness. The advantage of favoring the former is that you at least have nothing extra to lose. On the latter side, you will add new despondency to your existing losses. If it's already happened, and you've already staked out a bad luck, then why add new melancholy?
2. Make up for what you lack
If you don't know what to do, and you don't know what you're good at, and there's no friendly hand outstretched to you to summon you to do something, you've got at least one option outside of sleeping in your head and being a nerd (nerd), and that's to study. As annoying as it may sound, since we were young we couldn't get away from the advice that told us to engage in studies. However, in the past, most of us just coped with our studies mechanically, for the sake of decent grades and school, for the sake of our family's face and our own future, and usually we thought that after we found a decent job, our studies should come to an end. In fact, learning is a continuous process, when you are an adult, there is no one to guard your side to chatter to make you K book, this time all learning is spontaneous behavior. This spontaneous behavior separates you from your regular colleagues, and it benefits you in more ways than one. In the past, everyone K book, now, everyone changed K song, think, you insist on learning will reap what. Learning doesn't necessarily mean continuing to read foreign language books or the like, but rather finding an area and content that you are relatively interested in, and consistently investing time and thought into it. If you don't have a job at the moment, studying will firstly fill your free time, and secondly help you to develop the habit of studying. This second point of action will benefit you for life.
3. Spend with a financial plan
In the career gap, because of the sharp decline in income sources, you are bound to face a state of eating old money. In this case, to maintain the level of consumption in the past, you need to measure the balance of the wallet. If you used to be a "moonlighter", then you can only borrow. Of course, if you have a good enough mindset, you may be motivated to start the habit of saving money after you get a job, because "moonlighting" is a terrible thing. If you still have enough savings, then you should also make a more pragmatic financial plan. 3 months without a new job and a year without a new job are very different concepts. If you are loose with your finances and spend your days the way you always have, you will soon be in an awkward situation. There are some expenses that can be cut back, such as spending on clothing, spending on food and drink, and trying to cook home-cooked meals at home, all of which will benefit your finances.
4. Don't stop socializing
Although we talked about cutting back moderately on spending in the `gap' period of your career in the previous article, it doesn't mean that you turn into a creature that nestles in your home and disappears in all human traits except for your vital signs. You should not save the money you need to spend, and you should not stop socializing. On the one hand, suddenly becoming a solitary creature is a bit overwhelming for a normal person, and even though you don't have a job anymore, you still have to have friends, and it's not like you've been sentenced to prison, so why be so miserable and punish yourself? On the other hand, socializing is a great source of bringing you job offers or other opportunities. The more people who know your status and know what you need, the more likely you are to be spread and marketed. If people don't know what you're doing or what kind of new job you're hoping to get, you're missing out on some potential "matches", and if you're just sticking to your walls at home, guess what the chances are that those walls will introduce you to a new job? So, you can stay at home moderately, but don't stay at home y. Keep more doors and windows for yourself to get in and out of, and for others to get in and out of.
5. Exercise
After you don't have to work, you also don't have to squeeze the subway from 9 to 5, and you don't have to screw up your alarm clock. If you live alone, it's even more convenient, and there's no one who even dislikes you. Therefore, most people in the career gap period, will show a kind of wild boat no one boat from the cross, people in the way who love who. Black and white upside down or sleepless, these initial seem, just a way of life, a thousand gold can not buy master willing, frankly, outsiders have no qualifications to point out - as long as your home weeds did not grow to the neighbor's house. But an overly scattered state will eventually and stealthily exert its bad influence on you. When you're in the middle of a mess, it's actually hard to get your fighting spirit fired up; life just defeats you on all fronts. On the contrary, when you maintain a relatively healthy state of life, in a bright living environment, this at least means that you have control over yourself. Don't underestimate this self-management ability, the vast majority of people lose in the self-management. When you are in a career gap, if you can still maintain a good physique and a positive mental outlook, you are very obvious winners in life.
6. Make your career goals clearer and adjust them during your job search
It's a blessing in disguise. The first thing you need to do is to get your hands on a new computer, and then you'll be able to get your hands on a new computer. When you're on a roll, you don't have time to think about it, you take everything for granted: you go to work, you get the assignment, you complete the assignment, you get paid, you pay off your credit card, and so on, year after year. Sometimes, you may come across new opportunities, but you may also ignore them because you're used to a fixed rhythm. After a long time, you may have gradually become a frog boiling in warm water. When you suddenly have a free period of time, you should more or less re-examine your career prospects. What your career goal should be, whether there should be adjustments, how to approach and realize it, whether the next job can help you to complete the accumulation, all these questions should cause you to think about it, and preferably be clarified. In this way, you are not left without a target in your job search.
Whether you are a newcomer about to enter the workplace, or have been in the workplace for decades, you will always be faced with a bewildering choice: whether to get a job or to choose a career; whether to seek new challenges or to continue a stable job. Under the reality of the surplus of junior talents and the shortage of senior talents, this kind of confusion is more and more significant. In fact, this has a lot to do with the lack of clear career planning
It has been proven that people with clear goals are more likely to succeed than those who lack them. In the long career, if the lack of clear goals, in a variety of different industries and jobs on the horse watching type of rotation, and ultimately can only be nothing.
In fact, every person in the workplace will have a goal, newcomers to the workplace will pay more attention to the accumulation of experience and future development, want to start a business will deliberately focus on industry development and capital accumulation. People in different stages of the workplace will have different goals, but very often these goals do not help their success.
This stems from the fact that career goals are not set in the context of the social environment and one's own situation. And the social environment has a significant impact on the achievement of goals. In the last decade, for example, when the IT industry in the rapid development of the stage, the relevant technical positions are most likely to be successful in the short term, but with the influx of senior talent, the development of related industry talent has tended to slow. Many people in the self-analysis like to plan according to the character, personal ability, in fact, both personality, ability can be sharpened through the career, interest is the key to success, the history of success because of the interest of the examples abound.
Simply having a goal doesn't guarantee a good career, but developing a feasible plan and implementing it consistently is the key to success in the workplace. In career planning, you can start thinking about the following six points:
1, what is my career goal
2, several stages to achieve the goal, I am currently in the stage
3, to achieve the goal need to have the ability to
4, I have the ability to ability and lack of ability
5, how to improve the lack of
6, the promotion plan 6, the development and implementation of the enhancement planSince career is a long-term process, career planning should be based on their own current situation to develop a short-term, medium-term and long-term goals. In fact, the development of career planning is not difficult, many people have a clear career plan but did not achieve the established goals more because of the lack of continuity of the implementation, so first of all, we must thoroughly implement the short-term goals, and will be developed into a habit to achieve the ultimate goal.
Because career planning is a predictive behavior, the implementation process will involve a lot of change factors, such as family factors, environmental factors and role changes, etc., so the planning must have a certain margin.
