Are there any early human sites in Anhui Province?

Yes, it's called Anhui Fanchang herringbone cave.

The herringbone cave is located on the south slope of Larry Mountain in Suncun Town, Fanchang County, with an altitude of 100 meters. It is a cave developed in Triassic strata and formed by water dissolution, and it is an ideal place for early human life. The cave is about 30m thick and 8 ~12m wide. Because the natural section of the cave is herringbone, it is called herringbone cave, which is divided into 8 layers from top to bottom.

Renzidong site is an early Paleolithic cultural site with an altitude of142.2m, an east diameter of 1 185' 46 "and a north latitude of 3 13' 23". The landform is karst residual hills in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the geological age is early Pleistocene (about 2-2.5 million years ago). The site is cave accumulation, with an average width of about 8m and an exposed surface thickness of 31.5m.. It can be divided into nine natural layers and three sedimentary units from top to bottom.

The herringbone cave site was discovered in May, 1998. After years of excavation, archaeologists have discovered more than 7,000 early Pleistocene mammalian fossils in the herringbone cave, including a large number of large and diverse primate vertebrate fossils. Especially the discovery of real horses in the fauna is very precious.

The excavation and research of the herringbone cave site will have a far-reaching impact on paleoanthropology, paleontology, geology, archaeology and other related disciplines. The discovery of this site has advanced the history of human beings in Asia by 300,000-700,000 years, which is said by many regions to study the origin of human beings.
