Nansha Tin Hau Temple
Tian Hau Lin Mo, (960 AD - 987 AD) folk called A-Ma Zu, is the sea goddess worshiped by coastal people. She was a woman from Meizhou Island, Fujian Province, in the Song Dynasty. Her short life left behind many touching legends about her good deeds and her rescue of people in distress at sea. She has been highly praised by the rulers of the country. People gradually worshiped her as a god. In the Ming Dynasty, there was a Tin Hau Temple built in Nansha Lujia Village, which was the predecessor of Nansha Tin Hau Temple. The reconstructed Nansha Tin Hau Temple is located at the southeast foot of Nansha Dajiao Mountain, facing the smoky Lingding Sea. On the 1.5-hectare square stands the beautiful and kindly giant statue of Tin Hau. The features of the building are a combination of the style of the Forbidden City in Beijing and the grandeur of the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, and its scale is the largest of its kind in the world today. Here the grass and trees are lush and green, the flowers are colorful, and there are willow ponds, towering Nanling Pagoda, and elegant small mountain pavilions. The ambiguous sun is clear and smoky, and the cool breeze is pleasant. The birds in the trees sing freely, and the colorful butterflies dance among the flowers.
