Red hot chili peppers (RHCP) was founded in 1980s, and its bloody and explosive live performance made the band's brand-new music style of funk and punk rock strongly impact people's ears. The roots of RHCP can be traced back to a university in Los Angeles in the late 1970s. We have three close friends: Anthony Kiddes, Michael Balzari and hillel Slovakia. Michael Balzari plays the trumpet, and hillel Slovakia likes playing the guitar. Both of them showed outstanding musical talent. Anthony Kitts concentrates on writing poems and plays. HILLEL SLOVAK taught MICHAEL BALZARY to play the bass guitar, and both of them encouraged ANTHONY KIEDIS to turn his poems into lyrics. These three young people are deeply influenced by the rapid development of punk scene in Los Angeles (germs, black flag, fear, one minute person, X, etc. ) and Funk (Parlement-Funkadelic, SLY &;; Family stones, etc. The three of them began to practice with AUO Jack irons (drums). They called themselves magical and majestic masters of injury, and the four of them began to perform in strip clubs. Teenagers are frivolous and on a whim. They were naked, performing in the bar, with stockings around their lower bodies. At that time, no one would have thought that this would become the trademark of RHCP. 1983, Michael Balzari changed his name to Flea and the orchestra changed its name to Red Pepper.
RHCP was well received and even won a record contract with EMI Records. But before they started recording their first album, ANTHONY KIEDIS and FLEA received bad news: HILLEL SLOVAK and JACK IRONS said they were leaving RHCP to join another band. Jack Sherman (guitar) and Cliff Martinez (drum) joined in. RHCP released its first album "Red Pepper" in 1984, but because of the loss of two original members, the album could not express their explosive power at all and sold badly.
1985, hillel Slovak and Jack irons returned to the team, and george clinton's "STYLEY" was released later. Although STYLEY has made progress compared with the first album, it still can't fully express the strongest blood in their live performance. By the plan of 1987, this problem was finally solved, and people began to see the name of RHCP on the hot list. A year later, they launched EP Abbey Road. Everything is moving in the right direction, but on June 25th, 1988, the knotter hillel Slovakia died of an overdose.
Jack irons left the team for the second time and never came back. Anthony and flea decided to continue their journey, and they still sank into the sea of poison. People from other bands joined one after another, such as former parliamentary guitarist MKNIGHT and late Kennedy drummer D.H. PELIGRO, but the effect was not satisfactory. Finally, Anthony and Flea finally found a free knot, with other players, John Flossiant and drummer Chad Smith. The new generation of RHCP released a new album "Mother's Milk" (1989), which was adapted from stevie wonder's "Highland" and hillel Slovak's "Knock Me Down" about his death. Because the newly rising MTV TV station keeps playing MTV of these two singles, the two songs have become hot and the record sales have soared.
RHCP clearly knows that the next album is the key to their career. Together with producer Rick Rubin, they moved into a recording studio converted from a villa and made their most successful record "Blood Sugar and Sex Magic". As the first record of RHCP was transferred to Warner Bros., it was released in September of 199 1. Up to now, it has sold 7 million copies in the United States alone. The single "Give it away" was very popular, and "Under the Bridge" even reached the top ten in the pop music charts.
However, the haze of drugs has never left RHCP. Like the previous generation, JOHN FRUSCIANTE was addicted to drugs and even left the team during the 1992 tour. RHCP found ARIK MARSHALL to replace JOHN FRUSCIANTE. However, when RHCP returned to the studio to record the sixth album, the problem that ARIK MARSHALL's style was incompatible with the band immediately became obvious. Jesse tobias joined the substitute Eric Marshall, but before the recording began, Jesse tobias was kicked out again, and dave navarro, the former guitarist of Jane Eyre, joined in. After four years' delay, the new album One Minute Hot (1995) was finally released. But the evaluation of this record is far less than that of the last one. 1998, dave navarro was also deported with the tour group.
JOHN FRUSCIANTE, who left RHCP, released two unpopular records, Ms Niandra and Usually Just a T-shirt (1995) and Smile from the Street You Hold (1997). Rumor has it that John Frostcanter was homeless and penniless during this period, and his physical function was seriously damaged by drug abuse. Finally, John Frostkanter entered the drug rehabilitation center. When he came out of the rehabilitation center, he received an invitation from RHCP, hoping that he could return to the band. California Formation (1999) is their reunion album.
Just as they were preparing for the tour, RHCP had to face many controversies. First of all, they refused to perform songs for one minute during the tour, but they were opposed by many dave navarro supporters. They refused to go on a European tour with another band BUNGLE because Anthony and BUNGLE's lead singer Mike Barton hated each other. Barton's revenge method is to "pay tribute" to RHCP through this concert. BUNGLE imitated the stage behavior of uglifying RHCP on the stage, pretended to take heroin on the stage, and Barton imitated Anthony's remarks on the stage. The trouble hasn't stopped. RHCP performed Woodstock Music Festival on 1999, but it was ruined by the riots under the stage.
Fortunately, the trip with the Spitfire Fighter and Pearl Jam made the transition of RHCP to the second year smoothly. He returned to the studio in June 20001and 200 1 and produced a wonderful and mature album "By the way" (2002).
On May 9th, 2006, RHCP's latest album Stadium was released. The latest CM of RHCP can be seen by members in the update of TK on April 8th.
