Combat
Shadow dragons like to use their ability to blend into shadows to launch surprise attacks from hiding. They use illusions to confuse and delude their foes.
The natural weapons of a young or older shadow dragon are considered magical when penetrating DR.
Spray Attack (SU):
A shadow dragon's spray attack is a cone of rolling smoke that causes an energy-sucking effect. See the shadow dragon's age tier table for the negative levels gained by creatures within the spray's range. Successfully passing a Reflex check halves the negative level.
Into the Shadows (SU):
Juvenile or older shadow dragons can disappear into the shadows to gain complete cover when exposed to light sources other than daylight. Artificial light sources, such as the light spell, and indestructible brightening cannot remove this effect, but the daylight spell can.
Create Shades (SU):
The taiga shadow dragon can create a large number of activated shades 3 times a day. The entire range is a 100-yard (500-foot) radius, and the process consumes 1 hour. No light sources are allowed within this range. All fabrications and their makers are +4 on Hide checks and can hide under any conditions. A shadow dragon and his maker's connection to the shadow realm allows them to blend into the shadows to gain full cover. They can also move and attack normally in shadow. Because they are from stealth, they have a +2 to their attack checks and enemies lose their Agility modifier to AC.
