Kang Rinpoche, on the road to freedom

Kang Rinpoche

~

I watched Kailash by myself.

In the Nuo Da cinema, there was only me and a long-haired woman in black in the front row.

Before the film was released, I read the publicity and was a little yearning for it. On the first day of the premiere, I read a film review (attached below) in the evening and completely rejected the film.

A few days ago, I watched Kailash, alone, with a strange woman, and I had some words to say to myself.

Nature, when nature is not wonderful, when nature is wonderful, it is a disaster.

Greatness is in nature. When there is no greatness, when nature is great, it is rebirth.

Naturally, it means eating, sleeping, and having children.

Some film reviewers say that they don’t know what Zhang Yang is talking about, so don’t be a film reviewer and go see “The Turin Horse”.

There is no meaning, no greatness, no holiness, it is only in your present moment.

Kailash, in my life, in my secular world, in my dreams, on my pilgrimage.

Kailash is mine.

? (1) Daydreaming

? Growing up, I always had many dreams, mostly during the day.

The most common daydream in my mind is to go to a place, a place I saw in a book, then close my eyes and silently say "We are here, we are here..." until I graduated from elementary school. No dreams come true. Later I became less likely to daydream. Thinking about it today, this daydream is often successful.

? When I grew up, I was fond of drinking and lusting. Every time I went on a business trip, I always met enthusiastic customers, and then they became friends. Every time I interacted with them, I had to drink. I got off the car and picked up the "horse wine". I drank "farewell wine" before getting on the bus more than 20 or 30 times. After drinking the wine, I fell unconscious. When I opened my eyes, most of them had already arrived at the destination. Especially friends from Chifeng and Tongliao, Inner Mongolia, who drank to see me off. We were always delivered to the platform, where a group of old men hugged each other with tears streaming down their faces, causing the conductor to look at us strangely. I went a lot, and I always took those trains, and the conductors all knew each other. There was a conductor in Tongliao who asked me my phone number and QQ. One time when I went to Tongliao, she was off duty, so I invited a group of friends to drink together. The most profound memory I had was when I finished drinking in Haidilao, Beijing. I took someone's apron and said to the waiter, "I'll leave this as a souvenir." My friend put me on the train. I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet, and couldn't find the sleeper car. After squatting on the ground for more than half an hour, I met a little girl conductor who took me to my berth. After dawn, I heard from people traveling with me that the little girl had been guarding my berth for several hours. When we got off the bus in Hefei, the little girl said nothing and didn't call me, saying that this was what she should do.

In those years, I loved taking trains. After getting tipsy or drunk, I would wake up and be somewhere. It can be regarded as the realization of traveling thousands of miles with one eye closed and one opened.

More often than not, I am no longer interested in traveling all over the world, traveling by train, airplane, or car. On the National Day of the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2009, I bought a Phoenix bicycle from Baotou, Inner Mongolia, and rode it back to Beijing. Walking 800 kilometers from Beijing to Cangzhou, I suddenly became aware of the inner nature of life. Letting go of the outer world is the inner world. What is there, is naturally there, and life is at ease.

Gangpo Rinqi, for no reason, waited all the way to the Holy Mountain, more than two thousand kilometers away, letting go of the outside world, having no outside world, and only being in their own comfort.

Daydreaming is not a dream. Walking on the road is reality, it is now, and it is free.

? (2) Encounter on the road

The film is not earth-shattering. The prologue is just eating, drinking and sleeping. It is an original village and original villagers. It is not like a movie. The plot has no story background, it is just a village and some villagers. It is not a documentary. There is no commentary, no preaching, and no judgment.

Oh, my father has passed away and my uncle is old. I don’t want to feel sorry and want to go on a pilgrimage. Okay! Oh, those born in the Year of the Horse go to worship, good! Oh, the child born to a pregnant woman will also be born in the year of the Horse. Go and worship, good! Oh, the little girl has no one to take care of her at home, so she can go to worship with her, okay! Oh, the butcher killed a lot of animals. He was afraid and went to worship and repent. Okay! Oh, things are not going well for the couple. Let’s go to worship and ask, okay!

Listen, the reason for going to worship is the triviality of our lives. Many people are troubled by the triviality of their lives. Many people choose to be numb, many people choose to be numb in the excitement, many people create more trivial things in trivial matters, curse trivial people and things, and never forget the need to make money. And they asked God.

Asking God requires sincerity, which is to go all the way, kneel down, get up, walk a few steps, kneel down, get up, walk a few steps, kneel down...

On the way, someone invited them to eat. On the way, someone invited them to stay at home. On the way, they met a couple who were traveling together. They shared their food with the couple traveling together. This couple was reluctant to bear the hardship of their donkey, so they pulled the donkey by themselves. The car moves forward. Go along the way and meet along the way.

On the road, an off-road vehicle rear-ended their tractor. The driver said that the people on the vehicle would be in danger if they could not reach Lhasa in two hours. They looked at their broken tractor and said to the driver, "Hurry up." Let’s go” without even asking for a phone call!

Walk along the way, encounter along the way, all encounters, like spring, summer, autumn and winter, wind, snow and rainy nights, let it come, let it go, naturally and freely.

Even a pregnant woman giving birth or an uncle passing away are all encountered on the road.

As for us, everything that happens in life is fair or unfair, lucky or unlucky, with fewer encounters and more routines.

A few days ago, I occasionally went to a relative's house far away. I met an old woman at the entrance of the village. She saw me and said, "Are you ***'s nephew?" The "stinky bitch" is actually still alive. When asked, she is already eighty-seven years old. She was called "Smelly Mother" because she was eighteen years old when she got married, and her husband was already thirty-eight years old and disabled, because he gave her parents two hundred yuan (two hundred yuan at that time was about Farmers had no income in ten years). The condition for marrying her was that she would not work in the fields. Soon her husband got older and there was no one to work at home. All the bachelors in the village came to help, and they gave birth to five sons in one go. It is said that They all look different. Everyone in the village spits at her and calls her "stinky bitch". The women scold their husbands every day, "How dare you go to the bitchy bitch's place to make you look good..." But the bitchy bitch will never be seen again in her life. He worked in the fields, sent his husband away, and raised five sons. Most of the villagers who spat at her were already dead, but she was still basking in the sun at the entrance of the village.

A road encounter is a road encounter, not a greedy encounter, not an affair, just a road encounter, spring, summer, autumn and winter, windy, snowy and rainy nights.

Perhaps the "stinky lady" married someone out of desperation and let her meet her as she happened, just so that she wouldn't treat him badly. It was just a random encounter without any entanglements. And the people who cursed died young while praying.

? (3) Bullshit meaning

I read a movie review that disparaged the director. Attached is his original text -

"...To be honest, besides not being good-looking, the director Zhang Yang also said the same thing as himself: there is no script, and the director himself is all confused. This is a running account, so I will also use the way of recording the running account to express my views.

At the beginning of the film, the characters were introduced directly in small scenes. I originally thought that the majestic atmosphere of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau would be gradually brought out through the small scenes. It's a pity that at the end of the whole play, there is not a single big scene that 318 and Kailash can watch.

The protagonists in the film all live in Mangkang. Mangkang is located at the confluence of Sichuan and Tibet and Yunnan and Tibet. If you enter from Yunnan, one of the places you must pass through is the salt well, where Christianity, Dafa and The grudges and hatreds between Ba religion and Buddhism will also be staged here. In other words, whether you are entering Tibet from Sichuan or Yunnan, Mangkang is a must-go place. The protagonist has a long-standing wish in his heart, coupled with his advanced age and accumulated external exaggeration, the pilgrimage is inevitable. . Such an important place should at least have an explanation. Even if it is not a commentary, it should at least be given a little background sign. Unfortunately, there is no such thing, including why we chose to do the mountain trek in the Year of the Horse.

For Tibetans, such an important and sacred decision as prostrating their heads and walking around the mountains, once they are fully prepared, the psychological activities and understanding of the elderly, middle-aged and children will be difficult when they are about to set off. It's completely different. The tension, uneasiness and excitement could all be shown through details, but without giving these people even the slightest close-up, the tractor suddenly started kowtowing.

In the film, the location that directly appears is Zuogong Health Center, but the milestone of National Highway 318 appears many times. I don’t know if the director wanted to show that the route of 318 is long or difficult, but it showed the milestone. , the problem is still serious: on line 318, the milestone of 4444, there are all words of blessing written densely on it, and all the Mani stones are placed around it, and all the words of blessing are written on it. There is no representative milestone, and there are several milestones of little significance, and their appearance is just like a flash in the pan. Or there could be a system, like starting mileage and ending mileage, or typically picking one. But I don’t know what the director wants to express!

In the film, one of the most difficult scenes is Dongda Mountain. Dongda Mountain is the second highest mountain on the Sichuan-Tibet line after Mila Mountain. The hardship of Dongda Mountain lies in a There are only a few days of good weather throughout the year. The pilgrim team also encountered a brief snowstorm on Dongda Mountain. This kind of trouble would disappear within a few seconds of a shot. I was very curious as to where the director went in that situation. ? On the contrary, when passing through a section of water road, the team kowtowed and walked over and got wet all over, but the director should be dry. Is it possible to make a good film without any energy?

There are several scenes at night when everyone is chanting sutras. When it first appeared, everyone was chanting sutras and the sound was very loud. When the audience was listening, they stopped with a click. , and then the next day. I would like to ask the director, can it be slowed down a little bit so that the sound gradually disappears and then stays in the night for a few seconds? Don't give everyone so much suspense and surprise, can't it be a little more aesthetically pleasing?

Then the scene returns to Ranwu. Ranwu is a relatively iconic area on the Sichuan-Tibet line. Ranwu Lake is very beautiful, as are Midui Glacier and Laigu Glacier. Very famous. But on the way, there was an avalanche. When the rocks were falling, the child kowtowed before he got up, and the adult actually lay down to protect the child. I don't know if this is a deliberate arrangement by the director or if it's true, but generally in an emergency, our natural reaction should be to pick up the child and run away from the danger, and then go back and kowtow. So, here comes the question, if something goes wrong that was really requested by the director, will the director be responsible?

From another scene, it is inferred that the team should have danced Guozhuang happily after arriving in Linzhi, because there were few green grasslands and people's tense expressions were not as tense as in Linzhi. Relax, so everyone naturally jumped up to Guozhuang. Guozhuang is a very important part of Tibetan life. Everyone says that Tibetans can talk, sing, and walk and dance.

In the whole session, there was only such a little bit of happiness. Could the camera be a little longer and show their happiness in their expressions and movements? But the director suddenly brought out a pot of half-cooked stew.

Although everyone’s destination is Kailash, the holy city of Lhasa is a place that cannot be ignored. The shot given by the director is when entering Lhasa and seeing the Potala Palace. The procession performed devotional chants. But there should be a problem with the setting of this scene. From the perspective of the camera, the team should have turned the last corner and reached the "Happy Lhasa Welcomes You" bridge. But the fact is that the Bu Palace can be seen far before this location, but why is this scene only here? The only explanation is that the director didn't notice, or forgot, or it was too far away to shoot clearly. That's why the shots given appear so unreal. When we arrive in Lhasa, the Jokhang Temple and the Bu Palace are two places that cannot be ignored. During the two months the team will be in Lhasa, they will definitely do many important activities, but the camera only shows a few seconds of going to the Jokhang Temple to pray at night. Moreover, there was not a single resolute look in the kowtow team.

Another thing that needs to be explained is that someone in the team has an uncle who is a lama in Lhasa. It is estimated that this uncle is not the real uncle. I was at Drepung Monastery and met a little girl who was studying in high school in Lhasa and said: What they generally call uncle, if he is a lama, is equivalent to our uncle or uncle. Because he has become a monk, he is called uncle. I'm on my mother's side. Then here comes the problem. After the tractor was crashed, the team pulled the carriage up the mountain and sang: If you are lucky, you will become a lama, but if you are not lucky, you will go far away. Then why not take the opportunity to explain the reason? If the artistry is overlooked, I really think it can be compared to Fei Ming's "The Story of the Bamboo Forest" or Shen Congwen's "San San" and other series.

After the team arrived at Kailash, old Yang Pei passed away. Regarding the very important event of death, Tibetan compatriots will have some very important ceremonies to say goodbye. Judging from the camera, the team invited three lamas to perform sky burial and chant sutras. During the final farewell, the team made piles of mani and offered khatas, and everyone gathered together to tell the story of old Yang Pei. There is not a single close-up of the important part of bidding farewell to loved ones, as well as the nervous and exciting psychological activities of the characters when they are just getting ready to set off. Moreover, when we finally arrived at Kailash, there was not a single atmospheric scene. It's a pity too.

Finally, activities such as hiking, cycling and self-driving that are not pilgrimages but are pious and pure in heart are similar to pilgrimages. They are performed every day on 318, and there will be a lot of interaction between them. I don’t know whether the director and these people There is some deep hatred between them, but not a single scene was given.

…………”

The author of this article does not represent my views, nor does it represent whether he is correct or not. I disagree. I am on another section of National Highway 318.

From 2014 to 2016, I accidentally taught primary school students in Shandong for three years. Because my friend did not have a teacher, he asked me to make an emergency response. As a result, I taught for three years using the theoretical system of my friend Dr. Wang Fei. I am a three-year primary school student writing essays. To be honest, I know nothing about the major. I just used Dr. Wang Fei's lesson plan to start the lecture. Anyway, Dr. Wang Fei's theory is "Love Grapefruit, ICU, Case Appreciation - Structural Analysis - New Creation" , in layman's terms, it means imitation, like a cat or a tiger.

The students who failed to teach me greatly surprised the school teachers. The children's excellence exceeded the understanding of many people. One of them was that I set a rule in the classroom: "There are no right or wrong answers. Who knows?" Whoever stands up and speaks is the best” and “makes up nonsense about heroes”. For a teenage child, school education often requires them to “truly feel the truth and speak meaningfully.” For children, it’s simply a fantasy, and for adults, it’s a fantasy!

In the face of nature, there is no meaning in bullshit!

In the face of life and death, how can such nonsense achievements come about!

In the face of nature, where is the nonsense of aesthetics!

What is comfortable is right there. It is natural and right there, so there is freedom.

? (4) Pilgrimage

A few years ago, I gave myself a task: to go to a place with an altitude of more than 5,000 meters before the age of 45.

In a hurry, I reached my age. After teaching for several years and earning a low income, I thought about my homework. At the age of 44, I bought a hard-seat train and went all the way to Lhasa. It took me 40 hours to reach the Potala Palace. , carrying a backpack and walking around with people, more than ten times, 20 or 30 kilometers, and kowtowing at the Jokhang Temple. I met a Tibetan young man "Sangzhu". In addition to going up the mountain to dig Cordyceps in the summer, the rest of the time is to go to Lhasa to kowtow. Sutra, three hundred times around the Potala, three hundred times around the Jokhang Temple, three hundred times around the city of Lhasa...

I wrote down my chant——

Looking from afar, The top of Potala,

where people or gods once lived.

Looking down, outside the red wall at the foot of the mountain outside the palace,

Countless people, turning the prayer wheel for thousands of years.

The shambling old woman’s face is covered with traces of time, and the cane clanks in harmony with the babbling of the prayer wheel.

The elf-like child, following his parents, hummed and sang songs in ignorance, planting the seeds into his heart.

A girl like a lark, dressed in colorful clothes, entrusts her happiness to the lover beside her.

The young man did not make a sound, and only used his eyes to express his strength.

There were not many strong men lying on the ground. The dirt on their faces was the totem painted by thousands of years.

I packed my backpack and walked outside the red wall of Potala. I raised my heart high in the sky and saw the insignificance of Potala.

I packed my backpack and walked in the streets and alleys of Lhasa. With my heart rising in the wisps of cooking smoke, I smelled the fragrance of rice in every house.

I put my backpack on, sat by the Lhasa River, and picked up the sorrow that I never let go of.

I carried my backpack, meditated, and danced with the breeze, disappearing without a trace.

I backpack, travel, relax, and tonight, I sleep in the clouds.

Waiting for tomorrow, the mountains will be full of Gesang flowers.

I will carry my backpack and return to my hometown. The world of mortals is the hometown of my heart.

Pilgrimage does not mean arriving in Lhasa, it is walking on the road, just walking, just kowtow, just pilgrimage.

I took a ride along the Qinghai-Tibet Line all the way to Qinghai Lake. For three days, I drove non-stop for more than ten hours a day. I stopped at the Tanggula Pass at an altitude of 5,231 meters. I crossed the Hoh Xil no-man’s land and saw several roads along the way. Prostrate pilgrims on pilgrimage.

On the road, there is no choice, just move forward.

There are too many choices to make a pilgrimage.

Having no choice is incompetent, having too many choices is helpless. Choose your own life and move forward in your own life.

? The ancients said: The world of mortals is a dojo.

? Kailash said: Pilgrimage is on the road.

? (5) Silence

Lao Tzu said: Tao can be Tao but it is not Tao.

Kang Rinpoche said: Kowtow and walk.

I have to say: I don’t know.

I secretly said in my heart: The Kailash in the article is actually me.
