4. Dongji: Lonely island & clean water

The last stop on the tour bus was the statue of Cai Bo Gong. According to legend, about two hundred years ago, Mr. Chen Caifu landed on the island of Miaozihu in the East Pole because his fishing boat was in danger, and he became the first person to go to the island in the East Pole by virtue of his good water skills. After he lived on the island, every foggy night, he ran to the mountain and lit a torch, and when the fishermen on the boat saw it, they would come to Miaozihu to avoid the wind by the light of the fire. At that time, everyone thought it was a manifestation of the Bodhisattva. The statue of Cai Bo Gong was built on the hill where the fire was set, and now it has become the landmark of Dongji Island.
The only accommodation on the island is the B&B, we stayed in a B&B called Faraway Azure Holiday Station, is a very stylishly decorated house, Mediterranean style, blue color system, with yellow and white tones, the children very much like. The houses on the island are all built on the mountain, so you usually have to walk a long way up the steps from the highway to the hotel, which we didn't expect before. After walking a few times, we slowly got used to this living environment. During the day, we discussed with our wives how the electricity on the island comes from and whether power lines would be pulled from the mainland, and then we saw a power plant on the island, which solved our doubts. When we were resting after dinner, we experienced a power outage that knocked out about a third of the island, including our hotel. We were beginning to worry about how we were going to make it through the night, and although the island was a few degrees cooler than the interior, it was still hot. Luckily the engineers quickly restored the power. The plan was to watch the sunrise the next day and get ready for an early night's rest, but the hotel was not soundproofed, and a couple of poker players in the lobby made a lot of noise until after 10:00am, and I didn't fall asleep until after 10:00am.
On the morning of the 23rd, we planned to watch the sunrise. The first night on the Internet to check, Dongji Town sunrise time is 5:21 minutes, so booked 4:30 alarm clock. The spot we chose to watch the sunrise was at the statue of Zaibo Gong, which was almost a 20-minute walk away. After the alarm went off, we all got up very quickly, which was unimaginable in normal times, probably because we were all more excited about the coming sunrise over the sea. Outside, the sky was still gray, there was no wind, it was quiet, and it wasn't too hot anymore. As we walked along, the sky got brighter and brighter, and when we waited for the sunrise viewing spot, we found that more than a dozen people had already arrived early and were waiting for the sunrise there. By this time the day has dawned, the east side of the temple lake island of the wide sea is very calm, like not waking up, there are three or five local fishermen's boat on the surface of the sea in the operation. Looking in the distance, above the junction of sea and sky, a large dark cloud appeared on the surface of the sea, no luck. We sat on the rocks, waiting and talking. After 5:21 pm, there was no sign of the sun, and further back, an orange-red haze began to appear behind the clouds, and the sun was already out at sea level. The haze grew and gave a golden edge to the black clouds, and the sunlight was split into many beams that came out from behind the clouds as they blocked the sun's view. The beams grew until the sun's face peeked out from behind the clouds like a sleeping child with the clouds as his blanket. Everyone began to cheer. Sunrise was normal, and when going to wait for him seriously, it was more than a little happy.
Tohoku Island has three inhabited islands, the other two islands did not go, respectively, Higashifukuyama and Aohama. Dongfushan has an area of only 2.95 square kilometers, with a permanent population of about 50 people, refusing to be developed as much as Miaoli Lake Island. According to legend, Xu Fu in the Qin Dynasty led 3,000 boys and girls down to the East China Sea to seek the medicine of immortality for Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and the place where he stayed was Dongfu Mountain. Aohama is a bit more primitive, known as the "Potala Palace on the Sea", with houses built on the hillside, the layers of houses look like the "Potala Palace". Aohama is also the site of the Lisbon Maru incident, in which the Lisbon Maru, a Japanese ship carrying 1,816 Allied prisoners of war and a large amount of valuable supplies, set sail from Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to Tokyo Bay, Japan, and was wrecked and sank while passing through the waters off Aohama Island, where fishermen from Aohama and nearby islands rescued 384 Allied prisoners of war in their small sampans.
