Shaoyang ancient painting drama is a small folk drama of Han nationality in Hunan, formerly known as "ancient painting" or "ancient painting drama". The stage language is the combination of Qijubao and Paixibai in Shaoyang dialect. This kind of drama originated in the old Shaoyang County, and was formed in the Qing Daoguang and Xianfeng years at the latest. Today, it is popular in Shaoyang and its surrounding areas. Shaoyang ancient painting drama has many traditional plays. According to the statistics of 1979, there are more than 230 traditional dramas in Shaoyang ancient paintings and operas. Representative repertoires include Playing Opera, Touching Loach, Seeing off Cousin, Brother Persuading Sister, Hung Kai Forcing Back, Mother Seeing off Daughter, Shooting Birds, Going to Nanjing, Peach Blossom Spring Cave and so on. Its music originated from local folk songs and was influenced by Qi opera music, religious music and rap music in the development process, with more than 560 pieces. Among them, more than 40 belong to the playing department, 76 belong to the Sichuan tune department, 60 belong to various number plate departments, and more than 50 belong to the minor tune department. They were formed in different historical periods and can be roughly divided into three types: "two plays", "three plays" and multi-role plays. The main repertoires of Erxiaoxi are Dui Da and Touch the Loach. The representative plays of the "Three Little Plays" include brother persuading sister and sending cousin away, while the multi-role plays include Hung Kai forcing back and selling flowers. As far as genre is concerned, Lu Nan Opera is mainly composed of two plays and three plays, and the representative plays are Mother Sending Daughter, Bird Shooting and Lower Nanjing. Dong Lu has performed many multi-role plays, and is good at expressing Shinto stories, among which Peach Blossom Cave and Winter Melon Thunder are his representative works.
