Shum Wai Chung's Biography and Details

Biography

Shum's stage play lyrics in recent years include "The Good Person of Sichuan", "The New Legend of the White Snake", "After the Snow", "The Car Hello No" by Acting Family, "Fine Taste of Life" by Macao Drama Farm, "The Fine Phoenix" by Theater Space, "Dream of the Pearly Blossom", "Returning the Scent of the Soul" and "The Top Hammers" by Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, "Laughing Proudly in the Waves" and "Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain" by Hong Kong Dance Company, "Love in the Six Dynasties" by Hong Kong Folk Ensemble Legend" by the Hong Kong Folklore Orchestra and "Liao Zhai Xin Zhi" by Spring Stage, to name but a few. He has recently filled in the interlude for the play "Black Swan" in the 2009 Hong Kong Arts Festival. Apart from original lyrics, Shum has also been invited to translate the lyrics of famous foreign musicals for Cantonese performances, such as The Sound of Music, Pippin, West Side Story, Sunday in the park with Gee, etc. Shum has also been invited to write the lyrics for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. etc. In terms of TV and movie songs, he has performed in TVB's "Criminal Intelligence Bureau", "Fire Dance", "New Daughter Flower" and Asia TV's "Walk with Me". Last year, Shum translated and wrote the Cantonese lyrics for Disney's movie "The Magic Fairy", the DVD "Tinker Bell" and the TV program "Bunnytown".
