2003

February 26, 2003: Yamaha releases the development of voice synthesis software "VOCALOID" for electronic music production.

2004

November 5, 2004: Japanese-language "VOCALOID" product "MEIKO" was released. This was the first Japanese-language "Vocaloid" product, produced by Crypton Future Media, with original vocals provided by singer Meiko Haiogo.

2006

2 years and 17 days later: KAITO was released. This was the first Japanese-language boy's "VOCALOID" product produced by Crypton Future Media. the original sound was provided by singer Naoto Kazuya.

2007

January 10: Yamaha announced the development of "VOCALOID".

June 25: Official artwork for Hatsune Miku is revealed. a stand-up drawing by KEI called codename miku appears on Crypton's blog.
