Just as night falls, there are many people dancing in Changyang Square. They moved their feet briskly and swung their wrists nimbly. Gracefully twisting their waists. Some of them are wearing Tujia costumes, like fairies descending to the earth. This is the Changyang Bashan Dance. Changyang Bashan Dance is the development of the old folk "jumping funeral" which is popular among the Tujia people and was collected and organized by Grandpa Qin Faqi, adapted and innovated. It consists of "Bashan Shake", "Half Moon", "Four Harmonies", "Wind Swinging Willow", "Double Dragons Swinging Tail" and "Magpies Deng Zhi", etc. It is composed of six parts. The movements are different, but all of them are characterized by up and down movement of the body and left and right swaying of the hips. Now Changyang Bashan Dance has been called the "Oriental Disco".
Changyang Bashan Dance is like the early spring swallows hovering in thousands of households, like a bonfire burning the joy of the Tujia people. We have to learn the Changyang Bashan Dance seriously, so that the children of the Tujia people can pass it on from generation to generation.
