『Oriental Divine Rise』means "God rising from the East!"
"HERO (Hero Jaejoong), MAX (Strongest Changmin), XIah (Hosoah Junsu), U-Know (Yuho Yunho), Micky (Micky Yoten) - A Cappella Dance group consisting of five high school students, 'Oriental Divine Rise' (under S.M. ENTERTAINMENT). Unlike previous groups where each member has a specialty in singing or dancing, each member of 'Dongfang Shenqi' is a leader selected from various outstanding groups, and they all have high singing and rapping skills, as well as excellent dancing skills.
'Hero' won the appearance award at the 2nd S.M. ENTERTAINMENT Youth BEST Pageant, and 'Strongest' won the song award at the 6th S.M. ENTERTAINMENT Youth BEST Pageant. BEST, 'XIA' was selected through the Starlight Casting System, and 'U-KNOW' won the first S.M. ENTERTAINMENT Teen BEST Dance Award. U-KNOW' won the first S.M. ENTERTAINMENT Youth BEST Dance Award, and 'MICKY' won the 2001 Virginia Song Awards and KBN Youth Song Special Award. All five members have gone through the Starlight Academy System, which is the most rigorous training system in the world, and have become the 'Oriental Divine Rising' of today.
