Restaurant poems in lonely rivers and lakes and their interpretation

Frustrated and down, wandering the rivers and lakes with wine, addicted to the thin waist woman favored by King Chu Ling and Zhao's light dance. After ten years of debauchery in Yangzhou, I woke up and turned back, but I ended up with a reputation as a prostitute. The original sentence is from Du Mu's Farewell in Tang Dynasty.

1, original:

Send to the bosom.

Frustrated, he roamed the rivers and lakes with wine, indulging in Wang Xi women's Yu Chuling and Zhao Feiyan's slender waist dancing.

Yangzhou's ten years, like a dream, wake up, but in the brothel women this is a fickle reputation.

2, word explanation:

(1) Down and out: The official is down and out, without arrogance or rashness, wandering the rivers and lakes. Make pioneering efforts. Chu waist: refers to a beautiful woman with a thin waist.

Source: Han Feizi Er Handle: "King Chu Ling has a thin waist, and there are many hungry people in the country."

Vernacular translation: Gou Jian, the king of Yue (revenge for the restoration of the country), advocates bravery, and the Yue people also regard death as death. King Chu Ling likes beautiful women with thin waists, and women in Chu are mostly hungry people with thin waists.

(2) Lightness in the palm of your hand: Zhao, the queen of Emperor Han Cheng, is "light and able to dance in the palm of your hand" (the legend of Feiyan).

(3) Ten years: three years at a time.

(4) Brothel: In the past, it referred to exquisite and gorgeous buildings and brothels. Unfortunately: fickle.

3. Vernacular translation:

Frustrated, I wandered the rivers and lakes with wine, and every day I was addicted to the thin-waisted woman and Zhao's dance that King Chu Ling liked. During my ten years in Yangzhou, I indulged in debauchery and dreamy, and suddenly woke up and found myself gaining a reputation as a fickle prostitute.

Appreciate:

Farewell This is Du Mu's work recalling Yangzhou years. In 833-835 AD (literate Zongdahe in 7-9 years), Du Mu worked in the shogunate of Niu Senru, our ambassador to Huainan, and took over as secretary. At that time, he was only thirty-two years old, and the banquet was quite good.

As can be seen from this poem, he has a lot of contacts with prostitutes in Yangzhou, and he is a degenerate. Therefore, the memory of the future is a dream and a sigh of nothingness. This is a work of a poet who regrets that life has hurt him and he has no talent. It is not as frivolous, decadent, vulgar and dissolute as some literary histories say, like a dance academy.

The poet's "Yangzhou Dream" life is related to his political frustration. So this poem, in addition to confessing the accident, is full of dreams and unbearable memories.
