Bon Jovi's career

In 1982, he released his debut single, "Runaway," which attracted initial attention.

Vocalist Jon Bon Jovi met David Bryan (who was still going by his original name, David Rashbaum) at Sayreville High School, and they soon joined Atlantic City Expressway, an R&B-oriented group. When David Rashbaum moved to New York to attend a music school, Jon Bon Jovi followed him, and he worked at a Power Station studio owned by a relative of his for two years doing odd jobs, earning only fifty dollars a week. But Jon Bon Jovi didn't think it was hard to work as an odd-job man, because every day in the recording studio, he could see many famous rock bands coming in and out, and many musicians he admired, and he swore secretly that one day he would make a name for himself in the rock music world. Billy Squier agreed to record his demos, and once they were finished, Jon Bon Jovi was hand-delivered from label to label. Soon after, "Runway" was picked up by DJ Chip Hobart of a Long Island, New York radio station, who contacted him to play it on his local station and put it on a compilation album, although Jon Bon Jovi's ultimate dream was to have it played on the radio. Although Jon Jovi's ultimate dream was to release an album, he reluctantly agreed to be a part of the compilation. As soon as the compilation was released, "Runway" was instantly picked up by radio stations, and Long Island radio stations wanted to invite him to perform live, but the problem was, he didn't have his own band! Jon Bon Jovi called on friends David Rashbaum (later renamed David Bryan), a Juilliard graduate, Tico Torres, drummer for Franke & The Knockouts, and Alec John Such, bassist for the Jercy Chorale, while the guitarist called on his neighbors for guest appearances. At the end of one of the shows, backstage at the end of one of the performances, Richie Sambora approached Jon Bon Jovi and declared that he was the best guitarist for the job; although a little skeptical at first, Jon Bon Jovi was impressed by Richie Sambora's confidence and talent.

When Jon Bon Jovi signed with Mercury Records, the band's members remained the same for more than 10 years, and at the same time Jon Bon Jovi's good friend David Rashbaum, a keyboardist, changed his name to David Bryan and formed Bon Jovi. 1984, the band signed with Mercury Records. In 1984, the band signed with Mercury Records and Doc McGhee became their manager. Although their self-titled debut album wasn't released until January 1984, the band had previously warmed up the crowd for the well-known rock band ZZ Top at Madison Square Garden, where they received a number of appearances. "Runaway" was the first hit, and "She Don't Know Me" was the second single (which Mercury Records asked Jon Bon Jovi to force onto the album, and which is still on the album today). Bon Jovi's only non-copyrighted Jon Bon Jovi song on the album). With the single "Runaway" reaching the Top 40 and MTV airplay, Bon Jovi became a new legend in the American music industry. The band's funky look was as much in demand as their music: tight leather pants and flamboyant bandanas, ripped shirts, oversized jewelry, long blow-dried hair, and eyeliner were all hallmarks of the band, but it was their live performances that made them famous. 1985 saw the release of the band's sophomore album, 7800°Faherenheit, which sold over 500,000 copies in the US. After a series of successful shows, the band's positive, sexy, wholesome vibe and style began to take hold.

In January 1984, the band released their debut album Bon Jovi, which was very well received, and in 1987, the band's third album Slippery When Wet was a huge success. Two of the album's songs reached number one on the singles charts, and the album itself topped the album charts and stayed in the top 40 for 60 weeks, selling over 13 million copies. The following year, they released the album New Jer-sey, which again produced excellent results. The release of Slipp-ery When Wet was followed by a 16-month world tour. By the time 'New Jersey' was released, Bon Jovi had become one of the most popular rock bands in the world. The band's wholesome, sexy and energetic image and style were certainly a big part of their success.

In 1990, Jon Bon Jovi released his debut solo album, "Blaze of Glory/Young Gun II," which sold 7 million copies. Shortly after, Richie Sambora's Strariger In This Town sold 800,000 copies, and there were rumors of a breakup between Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. However, the five members of the band went on to produce their fifth album, Keep The Faith, in 1991, which was again well received, selling 8 million copies. Fans once again felt the power of Bon Jovi. In 1995, the band released Cross Road, an album of selections, and bassist Alec John Such left the band. The album was intended to be a retrospective of the band's end, but it unexpectedly sold 13 million copies. This was a huge boost for Bon Jovi. In 1995, Bon Jovi released a new album, These Days. These Days". With a more mature approach than their previous work, Bon Jovi had almost completely shifted away from the rally-rock style that was so popular with the teenage boys and girls, and had gone from energetic to mature. Once again, These Days was a huge success for Bon Jovi, and fans were reintroduced to a more mature Bon Jovi.

Bon Jovi formed in 1983, and since then, the band has been raising the flag for pop metal and hard rock, leading the way in long-haired, melodic metal, and in 1984, the band signed to Mercury Records and released a new album, The Rise of the Horse, which was released on the same label. In 1984, the band signed with Mercury Records and released their self-titled debut album; Bon Jovi's style of music belonged to the mainstream hard rock and heavy metal, but the band members' good looks and catchy songs made Bon Jovi's pop-hard rock style attract a large number of female rock fans in the late '80s, and inspired a great fusion between hard rock and pop music.

Bon Jovi released four albums in the 1980s. The third album, Slippery When Wet, sold more than 13 million copies worldwide, and the singles Living On A Prayer and You Give Love A Bad Name both topped the Billboard singles chart. These albums, along with their superb live performances on a series of tours, have reinforced their positive, sexy, wholesome vibe and style of music.

Bon Jovi released only two albums as a group in the '90s, a period that seemed to focus on the solo development of the group's members, with vocalist Jon Bon Jovi, another soulful figure Richie Sambora and keyboardist David Bryan releasing solo albums. Drummer Tico Torres branched out into another field, becoming a respected painter and sculptor.

After 2000, Bon Jovi's albums Crush, Bounce, Have a Nice Day, and Lost Highway maintained the band's wholesome, poppy sound and achieved varying degrees of commercial success.

2009 is destined to be a very special year for the legendary American band Bon Jovi. The band is set to release a new studio album, "THE CIRCLE," in November, and the sneak preview of the band's debut single, "We Weren't Born To Follow," has lived up to the hype. Since the song's radio debut on August 18th, it has been critically acclaimed and has become the fastest climbing song on the HOT AC radio charts in the band's 25-year history. Though Bon Jovi has reached the age of no return, their vocals are as strong as ever, and though they've switched to the country route because of their age, their playing still shines.

The song "We Weren't Born To Follow" was co-written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora***, with Jon producing the song himself. The song was also produced by John Shanks, who also produced Bon Jovi's last two albums, Have A Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007). Those two albums were huge hits for the band around the world, topping the charts and sales in several countries and bringing the band multiple awards, including a Grammy/Grammy.

Speaking about the upcoming album, vocalist Jon Bon Jovi smiled and said, "The title of the album actually has a lot of meaning. Some people may think that on this album we're back to the original Bon Jovi, but others may think that Circle means it's never over. My personal interpretation is that this music circle and loop is hard to get into more so than it is hard for you to let go." On every album Bon Jovi has released over the past decade, there have always been songs that reflect but the current state of society, and this time is no exception; the song "We Weren't Born To Follow" is more positive than anything they've ever done before, and has a special significance in the current socio-economic recession in the United States.

Additionally, and to the frontman's particular relief, guitarist Richie Sambora, who had been away from the band for a while last year for personal reasons, is back in the fold this time around. "It feels so good to have Richie by my side, and I can't put into words how much Richie means to me personally, and to the band as a whole." Jon seemed unusually emotional when talking about the musician.

Bon Jovi has been consistently hailed as one of the world's most successful rock bands for over two decades. To date, the multi-Grammy-award winning band has sold more than 120 million records worldwide and performed more than 2,600 shows for more than 34 million fans in more than 50 countries. With such an impressive list of accomplishments, the band deserves to be recognized as the best of the best by anyone who's ever put their name on it.
