Spoiled brat Shane Gray (Joe Jonas) is kicked out of the car by his peers Jason (Kevin Jonas) and Nate (Nick Jonas) when they arrive at summer camp because of his bad attitude and bad reputation, and is assigned to be the camp's dance instructor for a month. As the car is about to pull away from the venue, Nate informs Shane that he needs to record a chorus song with the winner of the camp's closing session, which is a concert where each camper performs, competes, and hopefully fights for the title. Tess, Peggy and Ella are surprised and invite Mitchie to relocate to their place. The next morning, Mitchie steals out to help her mother in the kitchen and meets Shane, who covers her face with flour to avoid being recognized by Shane, who complains about the breakfast, to Mitchie's displeasure. In the afternoon, Shane becomes Mitchie's dance instructor and teaches them hip-pop (Start the Party).
Shane starts looking for a female voice at camp, but is unsuccessful.Caitlyn mentions Shane's search for a female voice to Mitchie, but Mitchie decides that it's not her that Shane is looking for because Shane has never heard her sing.Tess accidentally finds out about her relationship with Shane and discovers that Mitchie is the chef's daughter's secret. the secret that Mitchie is the chef's daughter. Just after Connect's 3 perform their new song (Play My Music), Tess reveals the secret to the entire audience, leaving Shane heartbroken on the spot.
Afterward, Tess overhears Shane's conversation with Brown and realizes that the female voice Shane is looking for is none other than Mitchie, so she wants to avoid Mitchie from attending the camp's closing party. Using a bracelet her mother gave her, Tess preemptively placed it in the kitchen and lied to Brown that she believed Caitlyn and Mitchie had stolen her bracelet. When Brown found Tessh's bracelet in the kitchen, he banned Caitlyn and Mitchie from all post-term camp activities, including the closing party.
Just before the camp's closing session begins, Tess, Peggy, and Ella are having one last rehearsal. When things went wrong and Tess blamed them, Peggy had to quit the group and Ella followed suit. In the closing session, Ella joins Barron and Sander for a song (Hasta La Vista). Tess, who was the second to perform, saw her mother arrive and performed with confidence, but in the middle of the set, Tess was distracted by her mother's phone call and almost fell off the stage, and rushed backstage to cry.
The last item on the extras list was a performance by Margaret Dupree (Peggy). When Peggy finished her song (Here I Am) and went backstage, Tess apologized to her and Ella and praised Peggy's performance. While Shane, Nate and Jason are scoring the contestants, Mitchie takes the stage and sings (This Is Me), Shane realizes that the voice he's been looking for is Mitchie and sings a short rendition of (Gotta Find You) with her, and Peggy wins the camp's closing party. Tess admits to Mitchie and Caitlyn that she lied about the missing bracelet and apologizes. At the end, the entire cast sings We Rock.
The DVD's extended version includes a clip of Caitlyn setting up a recording studio in her family's garage three months after camp ended, and inviting Mitchie, Tess, Peggy, Ella and Lola to record a song (Our Time Is Here) with her.
The Disney Channel's latest original TV movie, "Rock 'n' Roll Youth," is doing quite well in the ratings. Like the network's very popular series, "High School Follies," the movie not only made new teen stars, but also set up another Disney original movie venture.
