Zhao Wei was born on March 12, 1976, in Wuhu City, Anhui Province, China, and her ancestry is Wuwei County, Anhui Province, China. Her father was an engineer, while her mother was an elementary school teacher, and she had an older brother. During her years of study from junior high school to Wuhu Normal School, Zhao Wei took piano and dance lessons. Starting out in the movie industry
The first step towards a career in the film industry was to be taken when she was a member of the Wuhu Normal School.
In 1993, Zhao Wei made her big screen debut.
