Gunn explains, "Star-Lord's mom was a music lover, but not in a masculine kind of way. She loves pop music that's a little bit silly and sweet, and she loves cool or funk. She loves fun-seeking and great tunes, and is a quirky girl who ends up falling in love with an alien. It's definitely something Star-Lord's mom would do because she's different, just like her son."
Of course, the songs were actually handpicked by Gunn himself. During the filming of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Gunn prepared a second collection of "Greatest Hits" to give to Star-Lord's character, Chris Plat, so that he could listen to them as he filmed and get into character.

The songs are all from the 1970s and 1980s, and they feel more familiar than the first collection, like Cheap

Additionally, the increased budget allows for the inclusion of songs by superstars like George
Harrison and Yusuf (Cat
Stevens). Most of these 14 songs will be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so eager viewers can press ahead and get a taste of the movie ahead of time.
