A touching story of a mother's love, to be told before class, not too long, with commentary (preferably true!!!)

When Lucy was eleven years old, her mom got cancer. Lucy was very sad when she found out, but her mom said she just needed to go to the hospital for a while and everything would be fine.

One afternoon, mom called Lucy into her bedroom and said, "Please do something for mom, okay?"

"Is it something to get ready for the hospital?" Lucy knew that her mom was going to start chemotherapy tomorrow. Mom shook her head, kissed Lucy on the forehead and said, "I'd like you to cut my hair."

Lucy was shocked, what kind of person lets a child cut their hair? Besides, her mother had beautiful long blonde hair, a foot long, and she loved her hair so much that she usually went to a fancy hair salon to get it cut.

Lucy took a lock of her mom's hair and put it between the scissors, "Are you sure?"

"Sure, please do it." Mom smiled mischievously.

Lucy was a little excited and a little nervous, although her favorite thing to do was fiddle with Barbie's hair, this was the first time she had ever cut a real person's hair. With a click, a lock of hair fell silently to the floor.

"Oops, too short!"

"It's okay, it's pretty, haha."

"Oops, cut it short again ......" The bedroom was filled with mother and daughter laughter and more and more hair on the floor. By the time Lucy was finished, mom's hair was down to two or three inches, and it was long and short, like a lawn that had been haphazardly mowed. Mom laughed in the mirror and put her arms around Lucy and said, "Thanks baby, I love this haircut so much, it looks like a rock star with personality." Mother and daughter hugged and laughed. It had been a long time since there had been such joyful laughter in the house since mom had gotten sick.

In the evening, Dad was shocked to see Mom and said, "Honey, what happened to your hair?" Mom said as if nothing had happened, "Oh, I had Lucy cut it. I'm going to lose my hair after chemo anyway, so I might as well make the baby happy first."

Now Lucy was a mother, too. Thinking back to that winter afternoon, she finally realized what an amazing woman her mother was. In the face of illness and death, her first thought was to make her daughter happy. To that end, she didn't hesitate to give the last thing she could.
